    • Close Breakups & Divorce

Married 23 years. Retired from the Navy. Ex entered menopause and was NOT handling it well. She refused to seek/accept any meds, counseling, etc ... When the kids (17 and 20 at the time) said "SHE goes or WE go!" I had the law escort her out and got a restraining order (she wouldn't leave OR stay away willingly and since she refused any help, I didn't feel I had any choice ...)

      Treatments

      Leave Working / Worked
I made HER leave and got a restraining order ...
Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
I got a lot of supportg from my online friends, kids, and family ...
    • Close Smoking Addiction & Recovery

Started smoking when I was 16. Have smoked nearly 3 packs a day for 30 years. Managed to quit for 2 months (62 days)about 5 years ago. Was TOTALLY MISERABLE the entire time. The withdrawal made me extremely short-tempered. I had the ex AND the kids, begging me to smoke again, because they couldn't take the person it had changed me into, sigh ... I've tried classes, candy, chewing gum, nicorette, Zyban, AND the patch, nothing has "been enough" ... :-/

      Treatments

      Cold Turkey Not Working
the physical addiction as well as the mental was too much for MY will-power ...
      Hard Candy Not Working
needed something else to "take my mind off of it", candy wasn't near enough (or regular chewing gum) Toothpicks to "chew on" helped more ...
      Nicotine Gum Not Working
      not enough nicotine ...
      Nicotine Patch Somewhat Helpful
I smoke nearly 3 packs a dfay, and have for over 30 years ... they don't MAKE a big enough patch to make up for THAT level of addiction ... :-/ I'd usually end up wearing the patch WHILE smoking (did help me cut down though ...)
      Smoking Cessation Class Somewhat Helpful
Well, I definitely learned all of the reasons for quitting, unfortunately ... it wasn't enough.
      Wellbutrin Somewhat Helpful
Lol, I take this for an anti-depressant, didn't realize at first it was the same med I took years ago when trying to quit :P
    • Open Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
      Type: Relapsing-remitting MS

In the fall of '98, after a bout with optic neuritis, I was sent by my doc for MS screening. I had multiple bloodtests and even 3 spinal taps, all of those tests were negative for MS ... However, when they did an MRI of my brain, they found 13 (or so) lesions. I was put on copaxone for several years, but my skins didn't tolerate it very well, so I was changed to beta interferon which I have been on over 6 years. I later found out that the first symptom I had, was probably Belles Palsy in '97

      Treatments

      Avonex Somewhat Helpful
Tolerated better than copaxone, which usually left a spot around the injection site, that felt like it had been punched hard. Seems to help minimize the exacerbations. I take Rebif, which I think is the same?Well
      Copaxone Somewhat Helpful
This was the initial med I was on, it left sore spots wherever injected. Not sure HOW effective it was ...
      Prednisone Working / Worked
Several times during "flare-ups" I was put on high dosage steroids (1000 mg a day by IV) for 5 days or so. It usually ended the flare-up the first couple of times.we Christians need a we
      Provigil Somewhat Helpful
One of the symptoms I have, is chronic fatigue. I have taken this for it for about 4 years, it works pretty well. Lol, I take them like No-doze when I am driving long-distance.
      Rebif Somewhat Helpful
Isn't this the same as Avonex? Actually I take THIS ...
      Swimming Somewhat Helpful
While I was still active-duty Navy, I did this for exercise, it kept me in pretty good shape, but now I rarely have access to a pool. I can't jog or whatever, because it greatly affects my MS if I over-heat my body. My neurologist told me I sholdn't elevate my body temp over 2 degrees F.
      Symmetrel Not Working
Took this over a year, it didn't seem to have ANY effect for me ... now I take Modafinil, it works a lot better (for ME at least).
      Wellbutrin Somewhat Helpful
I take 400 mg a day 200 morn and afternoon. I was previously on Citalopram which didnt seem to help at all.
      Levitra Working / Worked
one of my early symptoms of MS was ED erectile dysfunction this stuff enables sex but it makes my eyes dry and achy for a couple of hours.
      Ambien Working / Worked
I HAD troubles sleeping this helps.
    • Open Healthy Sex

Divorced after 22 years, from a woman that was emotionally cold, a prude about sex, and to be totally honest - not the brightest star in the sky. Really looking forward to a life centered around a relationship with the RIGHT woman

      Treatments

      Patience Working / Worked
Sex without feelings is meaningless, it's just assisted masturbation, I DON'T do "one night stands". I've always loved to flirt but never let it go any further while I was still with the ex. I think (hope) that I have found the right woman. Only time will tell ...
      Faith Working / Worked
I got more in tune with my Lord and savior Jesus Christ after the ex was out of the picture ... I feel a LOT better about THAT!
