I am a 20 year old nursing major. My dream is to be an OB nurse. I love to read crime novels. I take life as it comes and am glad I have so many amazing friends. I have a wonderful boyfriend who helps bandage me back together on my bad IC days.

Interests
I like to spin, walk my two dogs, watch gangster movies & romantic comedies. I like to walk in the rain. I love polka dots. I like to have random conversations until 1 in the morning. I like meeting new people and catching up with old friends. I like learning new things (like recently I have been learning a lot about high performance cars..yes I know odd for a girl), I am a total science dork (I even have a favorite invertebrate), I love to travel I have been to Ireland, England, Scotland, Egypt, Paris (for five seconds), and all over Italy..oh and did I mention I'm verbose?

Close Interstitial Cystitis (IC)
I was recently dx with IC in Nov. 2007. I have suffered for 20 years without answers and I have endured more poking at and staring at by MDs than I ever thought I could tolerate. I am glad I was finally dx and now I am on the "rocky" road to recovery.
Treatments
- Elavil Working / Worked
- This medicine is the BEST!!! If you can tolerate the side-effects. It made me very anxious and I felt like I constantly had to cry. After a professor complained about my "nervousness" and "crying" I had to come off it. I was take 75 mg one time daily at night, and then tried to cut it down to 50mg (per doc.s orders) to try and help with the symptoms--but I need to pass the class so I had to drop the med.
- Elmiron Somewhat Helpful
- This medicine seems to reduce frequency but not urgency or pain.
- VESIcare Not Working
- I used it and it did not work at all. I had horrible accidents and pain on this medication. It was given to me before my dx of IC.
- Atarax Working / Worked
- Helps me sleep. Take 25 mg tablet at night. I am really groggy in the morning so only take when I am desperate for sleep.
Close Stress Management
I am addicted to stress, but stress hurts my other condition IC. I have to learn to control myself or I will be a terribly unprofessional Nurse!
Treatments
- Music Not Working
- Use to work but now it does nothing!
- Physical Exercise Somewhat Helpful
- When my IC isn't so painful that I can't stand up..working out is helpful. Sadly, when I'm stressed I'm generally in pain too.
Open Pet Bereavement
I had to put my oldest dog Dodger down in March 2008. I miss him, he had the cutest little face. He was an abused dog that we took in and he loved us so much--his love helped me through some really tough times. My other dog Teki misses him, and often goes looking for him in the house. Dodger was never a well dog, he had "intestinal" troubles since he was a pup, and attachment issues. He got stomach Cancer and started to lose weight (like 5lbs). He was 14 when he died.
Open Skin Cancer
Type: Malignant MelanomaI had skin cancer on my leg and face when I was 16 years old.
Treatments
- 5-FU Working / Worked
- It kicked the cancer on it's butt :)
