My female border collie/lab mix has been very ill for the past three days. I took her to the vet yesterday and returned with her this morning to review the lab results with the vet. It turns out that she had extensive cancer in her abdomen. It was very widespread. The vet said that she could operate, but that the prognosis was very grim and that she gave her less than a 5% chance, even then would be the very real possibility of recurrence or death from infection due to her weakened state. Although it breaks my heart, I had to spare her going through all of that additional suffering for nothing. I am very sad and I miss my big doggie very much already! RIP Corey. We will miss you very much. Play with your brother Chango in Heaven until we all meet up again.

Can relate to the loss of a best friend. Glad you have a rational vet, and that Corey is pain free and at peace!

My dearest gentle Lucinda ... am so very sad to hear of the loss of your loving companion, Corey. Bless you for taking such excellent care of her and for humanely and tenderly being with her as her journey continues beyond our world. Lucinda, I lost my dog last year and I can relate to your sadness. I am so sorry you had to put her down. I will keep you in my thoughts throughout this week as I know how hard it is to lose such a valued member of the family. Let me know if there is anything I can do.

im so terribly sorry. i think its best that puppy didnt suffer either. you are a good doggy mommy. my aunt would put her dogs in diapers until they passed on their own cuz she just could make the choice to put them down.. it takes a lot of courage and love to make that choice. hugs to you and prayers to you that your sadness will be relieved.

Girl, that is so sad!! I've just recently went thru some pet losses---it's hard! They become part of your family. So sorry for your loss. Keep those fond memories close!
