    • About Me

I am 42, happily married with two beautiful daughters, one that had a traumatic birth and has suffered minor brain injuries that continue to challenge us. I have long had OCD and have spent a long time trying to understand and control its symptoms. I had an accident in 2001 (fell down my own staircase) broke my right leg in four places, broke my left arm and injured my back. Life has not been the same since. I have since had back surgery and been diagnosed with Myofacial Pain Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. I have pain every day and I struggle with a lot of side effects of the injuries, symptoms and medication. My Medications include: Popoxyphene-N 100 650 tabs generic for Darvocet-N for pain (1 in morning and occassionally another at 2pm) Alprazolam 1mg for anxiety breakthrough (rarely) Lunesta 3mg for sleep (1 nightly) Citalopram 40mg generic for Celexa for OCD and rage issues Hydromorphone 4mg generic for Dilaudid for pain (1 at night) Singulair for Asthma (1 in morning) Albuterol Pump as necessary Pulmicort (powder inhaler 1 puff in morning) Astelin (2 sprays in morning)and Nasalcort (2 sprays morning and night) for alergy relief ProBiotics (1 morning) for good gut health B12 2000mg (1 in morning)

    • Close Fibromyalgia

I have Fibromyalgia. This is the first time that I have ever admitted it. I have lived in almost constant pain for over ten years. I am ready to deal.

      Treatments

      Aqua Therapy Working / Worked
it helps when the water is warm
      Cymbalta Working / Worked
it worked for a while then caused very odd side effects so I got off of it
      Heat Working / Worked
Makes me feel better some times.
      TENS Working / Worked
The only thing that helps when the pain is unspeakable -- i turn it up all the way and revel in the counter balance of the pain stimuli
      Ultram Working / Worked
it helps but is too minor, no side effects just not enough pain relief
      Vitamin B12 Working / Worked
Has helped with my hands and arms
      Prolotherapy Working / Worked
excruciatingly painful to get the injections first 12 hours are aweful then the pain begins to subside and i have relief for weeks in some areas months in some areas and only days in some areas. It HAS improved my lifestyle overall. But you have to be willing to suffer some aweful pain to get to the relief.
    • Close Cerebral Palsy

My daughter has mild CP and we deal with challenges daily. While we are so blessed that she is not more severly affected, there never seems to be an end to the challenges that appear and must be dealt with.

      Treatments

Heel Cord Lengthening Working / Worked
Our daughter worked with a wonderful Physical Therapist for over ten years and then she moved. We have not found someone that could do what that therapist was able to do to keep her feet and legs from hurting due to heel cord tightening.
      Botulin Toxin Working / Worked
Our pain management doctor provides Botox injections to her legs which provide her with a GREAT AMOUNT of pain relief. We can literally SEE her walking better and even standing straighter after ther injections.
    • Open Diverticulitis

Have been hospitalized twice with severe episodes of Diverticulitis, always a thing that I have to be aware of. Working to try to stay clear of active episodes.

      Treatments

      Cipro Working / Worked
Always put on this when i have an episode.
      Flagyl Working / Worked
Always put on this when i have an episode.
    • Open Smoking Addiction & Recovery

I have been a smoker for around 26 years and it is high time that i stop.

      Treatments

      Willpower Working / Worked
I have only ever quit smoking when I was pregnant. I was able to do it each time i got pregnant but unfortunately resumed smoking afterward.
    • Open Back Pain

I have scoliosis, arthritis in my lumbar region and I have lost the curve in my neck (cervical spine).

      Treatments

      Bedrest Working / Worked
while necessary, it works for only so long. Staying still eventually really hurts.
      Chiropractic Adjustment Not Working
I used to use this method until one day I could not get off the table. I have not been back since.
      Cortisone (Injection) Working / Worked
This provides relief and the superwoman feeling for several days or even a week or two but it also is at least partly to blame for premature cateracts.
      Darvon Working / Worked
I take Darvocet every morning which gets me through the morning and sometimes even the mid afternoon WHILE allowing me to function at work. VERY GOOD!
      Heat Working / Worked
      Heat does help occassionally.
      Hydrocodone Not Working
CANNOT tale Lortab -- it gives me terrible nightmares and upsets my stomach.
      Ibuprofen Working / Worked
Advil does help though I must take four to have relief and my GP thinks that it is bad for my diverticulitis so i am discouraged from using it too often.
      Morphine Somewhat Helpful
While morphine has given me relief at times -- it also makes me itch like crazy so i do not take it anymore at all.
      Naproxen Working / Worked
I have taken this but again my doctor does not suggest every day use due to my diverticulitis.
      Physical Therapy Working / Worked
Physical Therapy has worked somewhat in the past when it was non resistive but there have also been times when resistive work has actually made things worse.
      Relaxation Working / Worked
Relaxation REALLY helps as long as I move as well.
      Stretching Working / Worked
Stretching does help but does not provide any long term relief.
      TENS Working / Worked
TENS unti helps but does not provide long term relief.
    • Open Chronic Pain

My low back and right hip hurt just about every day. My neck and shoulders often jurt as well.

      Treatments

      Cymbalta Working / Worked
This had a positive affect at first but also caused weight gain.
      Heat Working / Worked
Works while on the heating element, must constantly control the level of heat.
      Lidoderm Working / Worked
I have JUST begun using these and find them VERY, VERY helpful in stoping spasms.
      Marijuana Working / Worked
This has actually helped the few times that I have tried it. The result is usually relief for several hours. This is only an after-work-hours treatment however as it affects my ability to concentrate for long periods of time.
      TENS Somewhat Helpful
The TENS unit does help sometimes though it is rarely domething that lasts even when it does work.
      Prolotherapy Working / Worked
This has REALLY helped in some areas while helping only a little in other areas but i HAVE seen relief in various levels in various areas with this treatment.
    • Open Scoliosis

Scoliosis found in 8th grade. Never had to wear a brace or have surgery due to the scoliosis.

    • Open Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD is me! Been that way for a very long time. Can definitely see it in others. Take a pill to keep myself from running like the energizer bunny!

      Treatments

      Paxil Working / Worked
Took this as a young person at pretty low dosage and it worked well just to keep me balanced.
      Celexa Working / Worked
Take 40mg daily and it helps me to be able to let things go instead of focusing on some little thing that gets really big and makes me crazy otherwise.
