Hi my new friend, as I said, my name is Dawn and I am forty two years old. I live with my parents due to my condition. I have Hydrocephelous, Arnold Chiari Malformation, and have an illeostomy. Please know, I also take a lot of vitamins, as you can see in my profile. Good Morning, I just read your note on the Spina Bifida group and I have tears streaming down my face. Just for what it is worth, and it may be nothing, my name is Dawn, I am forty two years old and have Spina Bifida. I have had twenty three operations but, am almost perfectly healthy. Yes, I am in a wheelchair, yes, I have a shunt (one shunt) that drains water out of my brain due to hydrocephelous. I had an open back when I was born and immediately had the surgery to close it. I had five surgeries in the first six months of life!!! Now, I know this sounds like a downer BUT Bigwilli I am ok. Your baby if He/She is strong enough and if you both (you and your wife) get in "fight mode" and stay there for this child, will be ok. I am Catholic, I live in Maryland.
