Open Military Families

I am the mother of an Army soldier. He leaves for Iraq the end of May or first of June. He is my only son. He and his wife recently added my new granddaughter to our lives. He gets to spend a couple of months before leaving for 12-18 months. I am so frightened. I have MDD and anxiety already. I feel my stress level going up and the anxiety taking over. I try so hard to control it.

Open Ankylosing Spondylitis

It took the doctors 2 years to diagnose my AS. During that time I developed MDD also and also PsA. This disease is very hard to live with and even harder to explain. People can't see it and therefore do not understand it.

Open War in Iraq

I am a mother of an Army soldier. He leaves in 6 weeks for Iraq. He and his wife just had a baby girl, so at least he gets to spend a month or month and half w/her b4 leaving. I want to start a group for Mothers(Families) Always Want Soldiers Safety (MAWSS). The reason behind this group is to reach out to our government, our public and our businesses to provide "recommended and needed" safety equipment for all troops. My son (27 this year) is buying his own personal safety equipment.

When I was 20 and recently married I started getting signs of some "skin" disease. No one could tell me why or what it was. It started in my hair and then went on my arms. I was horrified. A doctor (specialist) finally told me it was Psoriasis and it was my body's way of not having a heart attack. He told me I had to reduce the stress, learn to cry and show emotions and not hold on to my problems. Here I am 30+ years later and still trying to learn how to do that. I now have PsA also.
