About Me
I am 32, single mom of one eleven yr old daughter. I was just recently diagnosed with RA. I am in a lot of pain and stiff most of the time. The pain is espcially pronounced in my feet which makes it hard to walk. I took my first dose of Methotrexate 2, 5 mg and Folic Acids 1 mg yesterday. I also take Motrin 800mg for the inflamation. I work for a large grocery store chain and its tough, but I am a trooper, always trying to think and be on the possitive side.

My sed rate was as high as 104 at one time - could barely raise my arms or start the car (but I drove anyway!). MTX didn't help much, so my sed rate stayed high for about 4 months as the doc increased the dosage and waited for improvement. After getting limited results with MTX alone, we (finally!) decided to add Humira. I'm so much better now. I encourage you to hang in there, but if you're really suffering, maybe it's time to kick the doc in the butt and say you need relief NOW!

Hi - I picked up on this comment from your specialist as I just met someone on a tour whose mother was diagnosed with RA in her early 30s. She already had two children and he vividly remembers how hard it was for her. In her later 30s (I think he said about 36,37) she got pregnant again and the RA disappeared forever. This is the first time I have actually met someone who knows first hand of a case of permanent remission. It is supposed to happen to 'selected' people of all ages from time to time so perhaps your rheumy thinks it a possibility for you. You should try to nail him with more detail? Good luck - I am late onset and struggle with flares etc. Think it so unfair for you younger people to get something like this.
