      I started having episodes when I was 15 years old. At that time they did not know what was causing my "blackouts". A MRI showed some abnormalities, but no diagnosis was made. My father died when he was 56 from undiagnosed CADASIL. They only knew that he had a degenerative disorder of the brain. Genetic testing confirmed that I have CADASIL.
