Struggling with ongoing vertigo - looking for others who are having similar experiences
Treatments
- Antivert Working / Worked
- Made me so sleepy that I couldn't work or take care of my family. Had to stop.
- Dramamine Working / Worked
- Again, too sleepy to be awake
- Vestibular Exercises Working / Worked
- helping. nystagmus eye exercises work better for me than some of the full body maneuvers, which appear to overstimulate the system
Close Myelodysplasia
I was diagnosed with Myelodysplasia 5q- in June 2003. I was on the Phase II Clinical Trial for Revlimid, and am now a 5 year survivor with blood counts essentially normal once more.
Treatments
- Blood Transfusion Working / Worked
- I had 2 blood transfusions. They worked temporarily. The first was whole blood, the second was irradiated packed red blood cells. The reason they irradiate the blood is to help prevent development of allergic reactions to different antigens, I believe.
- Epogen Working / Worked
- I took Procrit shots to help keep me from needing another transfusion until I could be accepted into the clinical trial. It did raise my Hemoglobin somewhat enough to keep me going until I entered the REvlimid Trial.
Open Financial Challenges
I am an architect and have my own business which I have kept going the last 9 years, through cancer (myelodysplasia), menopause, osteoporisis, fibromyalgia and ongoing severe vertigo. Needless to say, my income has been much less than I earned before I got sick. Now with this economy, all of my projects have gone on hold, I have no income whatsoever, and I am unable to work a full-time job even if I could find one. I am scared! The vertigo is quite disabling. I am searching for work I can do.
