Journal Entry for January 29, 2009

I am semi-retired and have been married for 31 years to a wonderful man who loves the Lord. I have three children and 5 grandchildren. My passion and love is Jesus Christ and the Church. I was diagnosed with GERD in March and put on a series of prescription drugs (acid blockers) From that time on I started seeking God in prayer and petition for His direction and guidance. I was not willing to accept a life of drugs and pain and suffering, which I had everyday all day. In December the Lord answered my prayer by leading me to a Naturopathic doctor who told me I did not have GERD. He told me I had allergies. I had a series of allergy tests which revealed I am allergic to all dairy products, eggs and a few other foods. The doctor said stop eating the foods you are allergic to and come back in a month, which I did. Within that time I started to heal. It has been 5 months since I stopped eating the foods I am allergic to and I am 85% better. (I do cheat from time to time). I now take Zantac 4 or 5 times a week and a few Tums when I cheat and eat the foods I am allergic to. Before I was taking 3-4 acid blockers per day and 3 or 4-300 mg Zantac per day and 30 or more Tums per day. All I can say is THANK YOU LORD for your faithfulness, mercy and love to me in healing me and leading me in answer to prayer.

Hi Sister B. Hugs back to you love and hope you are feeling better. I too am having more tests done regarding allergies and GERD. On May 27th I had my first endoscope test and the results of the fecal samples still need to come in. I am continuing my diet and find that mixing up small samples and eating small portions and eating more often (e.g. 5 times a day) helps as well. The Doctor told me that I need to focus on not only what I eat but how I eat. I find that I eat to fast; therefore, when I eat I need to relax more.
I have had my off days but in comparison where I was the last year and a half...thank God my situation is improving. The winter was depressing and very uncomfortable and now that summer is here I will try to walk more. Yoga and breathing techniques have helped me as well and I recommend connecting to the body’s core energy. Life can get crazy and move rapidly. Learning to relax can be difficult but a very important component in handling the GERD.
Thank you for your encouragement and wishing you all the best. High Five and “Hugs” to you Sister B.
Hi Sister B., Hope you are feeling much better. I have been reading your posts and I am also thankful to God for his help and guidance. Presently I am scheduled for an "endoscopy" in May. I too am grateful that I no longer take Pariot...just Gaviscon as needed. Still I maintain a new diet of soluable fiber foods (oat meal lol), try to stay calm, exercise within reason lol, and most important seek the help of God (I wish I had turned to God sooner in my life, before I needed his help, it is selfish of me to turn to God only when I need help--but God helped me just the same. God did not abandon me...God is great and he is continuing to help me. What is important for me is where I am today, more spiritual, and for the right reasons.) Thank you for giving me inspiration in my quest to find a remedy for my problems with GERD. I am very grateful to you and DS members for their support. I send you a big hug SisterB and wish you a most blessed day today and always. Keep well SisterB and God Bless You.
Thank you so much. You just don't know how much I needed your message today! God Bless You!
Hi SisterB. I have taken you advice and have several leads of Naturopaths in my area. I am also going to seek out a Gastroencologist and make an appointment for an Endoscopy too. Hope your feeling much better too SisterB. Thanks again for your help.
