    • Close Heroin Addiction & Recovery

I began smoking heroin when I was 20 and eventually started shooting it. I had a devestating addiction that lasted around four years. I was also addicted to just about any drug that you could give me! I tried to get sober again and again in this process but was not successful until I fully dedicated myself to the program of Narcotics Anonymous.

      Treatments

Narcotics Anonymous (NA) Working / Worked
Changed my life. You get as much out fo thise program as you are willing to put it. It requires a great a mount of surrender. "Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path..."- the AA book
      Suboxone Working / Worked
      Physical Exercise Working / Worked
Being physically active was a major part of my early recovery. It was the only thing that relieved me of my major depression that I had to face when I got clean.
    • Close Smoking Addiction & Recovery

I have not smoked a cigarette in about four months. I'm here to share some experience, strength and hope for those who are quitting and also to get support that I actually still need! I still get cravings every once in a while.

      Treatments

      Chantix Somewhat Helpful
I quit for a month before with Chantix and it made it very easy. No major side effects. I stopped taking it after about two weeks because I thought I had things under control and I was smoking again within another two weeks. Stay on the Chantix, you need it!
      Cold Turkey Working / Worked
I quit this last time cold turkey. I have four months now. My involvement in a 12 step program has helped me greatly with this.
    • Open Alcoholism

The disease of addiction quickly destroyed my life. I began drinking heavily when I was in my early teens and eventually moved onto harder drugs. Oblivion was my goal and I had no plans of stopping. Then there was divine intervention, when an unlikely chain of events led me to rehab. I didn't want to be sober, I hardly even wanted to live, but I learned how to surrender to the 12 step program and now life is EASY, HAPPY and FREE!

      Treatments

12 Step Program Working / Worked
"It works if you work it" 12 step programs saved my life
