Back from Touristing... Bad news about getting old is all the 'old' stuff that happens (e.g., I don't feel as adventurous, more general aches and pains) BUT
It beats the alternative all to hell. Went to Elderhostel in the Black Hills. Not only seeing Rushmore and Crazy Horse and (if you can believe this Wall Drug (real tourist trap)). But seeing live actors portraying the Rushmore Presidents (required a little 'suspension of disbelief') but what the hell, Being able to talk to Thomas Jefferson and Teddy Roosevelt was a real treat.

I hope I'm not entering 2 comments, goofy DS site! Your trip has truly gotten my wunderlust up and running at full throttle! I've gotta travel and soon!!!! Again, welcome back! ...welcome back? I better stop b4 I start singing the Kotter theme song...:o)

We went there some years ago, stopped on the way home from Nebraska to CA, beautiful country. Crazy Horse was just in the plans at that time, is it done now? I was quite disappointed that Rushmore was so far away and could only be seen well with binoculars. That was a disappointment. Boy, I understand about the adventurousness not being as big a part of our psyche as it used to be. Mentally, we are there, but body won't go there any more, LOL! Glad you enjoyed yourself anyway, Larry. *M

I never made it up there, one day...
All of this travel you are doing is sure reminding me how much I love to travel...I've got to do some planning.
How are the Black Hills and Badlands, is that close to Rushmore?

I went there as a young girl, it was beautiful and Mount Rushmore is so amazing. I just watched a show about how they did that back in the day..pretty interesting.
Yes, things are less exciting the older you get but you are thankful....
