Big suprise...SSDI denied me on the first pass. They said, an I quote, "Your previous work as a supervisor in a call center does not involve phycical tasks. Therefore, disability benefits can not be granted." All my years of working and they take a job I held close to 10 years ago and site it has no physical elements. First of all, in the employment world I would no longer be qualified to work in a call center because one look at my current resume as an HR professional and no one would call me since I am overqualifed. Second, anyone who has ever worked in a called center knows you have to type all day, talk all day and file. SSDI actually said in my denial letter that they acknoledge my myofacial pain but expect me to take a low level job where I talk all day??? At least I have my LTD from Met-life and they will help fight the appeal process but I was just at the dr's again yesterday because I can not even walk the span of the grocery store, let along get up and go to work everyday...it really pisses me off that SSDI has no clue! I am on so many drugs for pain and sleep 18 hours a day but I can work?
Kearsten, SSDI routinely denies first passes. I remember my first denial, they said, "you might be uncomfortable but you can work." If you have any chemical sensitivities at all, have the doctor write them up. Never back down. Never apologize for being disabled. Do not let them or your lawyer or doctor paint you with the "depression" brush. You are physically disable. I got full disability after two denials, and just days before a trial appearance. To your lawyer and your doctor, do not stop being the greasy wheel. Keep calling. Because said lawyer and doctor go off to Club Med whether you get benefits or not. So, use whatever energy you have to keep your case afloat, plus your prayers, and ours, GO GIRL! I had CFS twenty years ago when it wasn't accepted as a disorder. We've come a long way, but insurance and government try to get out of everything! And, by the way, my first denial was timed to arrive in the mail the day before Thanksgiving. That's how they deflate you. Enjoy your children and your holidays as best as you can given your poor health. Keep us all posted, We haven't heard much from you lately, but we love you. Hang in there!

i have had SSDI for nearly 5.5 years, and it was about unable to do any work that i had ever previously done. yes it was because of my medical reports and history, and nothing like yours. as said above: do not give up.

Kearsten, the old saying comes to mind, "try try again". CFS has not took hold of my life where Im unable to work. It has effected me to where it has made it much harder and Ive thought that maybe I too should get the ball rolling in that direction. For this point in my life I'm fine and with the healthy choices my plan is to stay that way. Good luck and please dont ever give up.

Yeah, they told me based on my job description of lab technician that I could work, too. You know, standing and /or running around all day, constantly moving, never stopping, working under constant stress, carrying heavy reagents....sure,I can do that.I can't be up for more than a couple hours a day, because if I keep doing that I flare all over again.I tried working in May...I was all excited because I thought it was all behind me.Twelve of the twenty-ond days I was employed there I was home sick.Sure I can work,no problem.I only wound up in bed for three months.I know exactly what you're going through, and it is frustrating, but you've got to hang in there. We've all been there dear, and we're all here for you.Hang in there, you WILL get it.It might take some doing, but justice will prevail.Ok?Go get some rest.

Oh Honey i am so sorry you have to go throug all of this crap. And that is what it is. My first time the judge told me yes you desirve SSDI but I am not going to give it to you because of your age!! What the hell does age have to to with be disabled?? That is when I got my lawyer. And with in 6 months I had my SSDI. I have only known one person to get it on thier first try. My mothers best friend, and she has Narcalepsy(SPELLING). They want to try to discorage you from pushing it any futher. That is exactly what my lawyer told me. Don't give up or they win. You get some rest and you go fight them!! I know you will get it sweetie!! Your Friend Traci((HUGS))XOXOXOXOXO's
