In a time of utter confusion and doubt who better to have as a role model then Don Quixote. A frail brave, battered ragged knight errant. A well meaning albeit a bit befuddled & confused man on a mission to undo perceived unforgivable wrongs. Often mislead for the amusement of his so called "betters" for their amusement & distorted pleasure. ~~~
Believing when a person gives his word of honor the speaker was honor ~bound to keep it, or so Don Quixote thought. Sadly his time as well as our time honor is a lost virtue. I am unsure who is trust worthy & who is not. In our world of right is wrong & up is down.who knows? Elected officials who took up arms against President Clinton's lack of moral fortitude in the name of family values & cried for impeachment if not even his head, now seem to be singing another tune. When their sordid misdeeds are shown on the nightly news they spout a litany of excuses that would make the master of tall tales proud. ~~~
Politician's lies flow as easily as the Mississippi River after spring thaw. Right or left or independent few seem to know or even care what honor, dignity & integrity means any more. So long as the means justifies their desired end. Anything goes! No truer words were ever said then "Do as I say, not as I do" Politicians are not the only ones who follow this credo ~ Religious leaders,the Military,CEO's, Sports figures, Doctors the list is endless. This affliction is also in every nation around the globe. ~~~
No wonder our youth is mired in confusion. There role models are honored for scandals almost on a weekly basis. Violence against women, children, other men & animals are greeted by a shrug of the shoulders. We protest violence more in movies & songs then we do in real life. When power,influence, prestige & money mean more to most people then the general welfare of mankind we indeed meed a knight errant tilting at the huge endless windmills of injustice. When appearance is what matters , not substance we indeed need quests for goodness & right. For we all indeed need the utopia sought for all the ages since time began (Eden, Heaven, Camelot,Shangra~La, Xanadu, Elysian Fields, Shambhala, Nirvana ) or any of the myriad other perfect places of peace & plenty. ~~~

I for one would most gladly mount a sickly nag & don rusty armor, tattered cape & raise a battered, splintered lance to make things better for all of mankind. YOUNG & OLD ~ ALL RACES ~ ALL CREEDS ~ ALL GENDERS ~~ NO ONE EXCLUDED!! ~~~
I would rather be made a fool of trying to do good & suffer the jeers, insults,consequences & do without things to achieve a batter world . I desire means for all to move on. What I want most is to be available to see others not suffer any more . ~~~
Being able to have the means to do, go & buy what ever you desire will not help you out at your final judgement. Then achievements are counted differently. The material ceases to exist in the real sense of the word. We will all be equal then. The richest to the poorest will stand side by side . Nothing to tell them apart. Mono on mono just our life's deeds or misdeeds to show. ~~~
Remember you can have all the material wealth there is but without compassion, sympathy, a warm heart, a loving soul you lack the ingredients for a whole , quality human being who really cares about their fellow humans. The most beautiful/ handsome person may as well be made of stone if they lack caring for others. A human being willing to place another's need ahead of their own. Not just the ones they consider their equals or of some use to them or some other selfish reason. ~~~
So I choose Don Quixote on his quest to improve the world. I will take on all windmills. Was he a fool? Maybe. I would not consider him so. Am I a fool? Most assuredly. For in the end we are all fools to one degree or another. despite our high opinions of ourselves. But better a fool trying to do a little something to help then a fool missing the chance to help. ~~~
I invite you to join me on our quest. Maybe a fool hardy crusade of hopeful dreamers, relentless believers, trusting misfit souls & loving hearts can begin to regain the joyful, peaceful luminous place our world was meant to be. All it needs is random ,selfless acts of true kindness. What is there to lose? After all we seem to teeter on the
on the brink of catastrophic chaos & the eve of destruction everyday. In a blink of an eye it could all be gone. Think of what baggage you want to bring with you when you pass on? Love , kindness & caring or greed, avarice & meanness? With the faith of a mustard seed all things are possible. So please wait,Don Quixote we follow your lead. For better or worse your army awaits.

"I am I, Don Quixote, the Man of Lamancha"! I think that we are all fighting windmills as we strive to be well. My best friend ever was Dulcy, a Basset Hound named after the prositute in "The Man of La Mancha". She always listened to all of my problems without commentary (as long as I rubbed her belly) I would give anything to have that kind of support again! Its amazing how a soft lick from a 4 legged friend can help soothe your pains.
I wish everyone here a peaceful gut and a good night's sleep.

I agree that we are all tilting at windmills these days trying to get well. Now we just have to learn how to overthrow ignorance of our suffering and get some keynote speakers out there discussing this thing!
