happy weekend!

I was drawn to this site because it has so many great stories by others facing the same life health struggles and successful joys in finding answers. I've joined lots of groups since finding DS. Some are for me, others for friends who are going thru a lot worse than I could ever imagine. Every chance I get, every email just about, I include a link to DS. I believe in it that much, in the people here, the wisdom, hope and support everyone offers.

Travelling a bit with my husband and Molly our little yorkie-poo. I'm just starting to enjoy retirement and finding new things to do. I was always busy working and taking care of the family that I really didn't have any hobbies. Unless you consider work and cleaning the house hobbies *s*. I never wanted to be that busy lady with too many things to do. Just one or two things to enjoy and share with friends would be a perfect blend. Books on tape are best, and I listen to one each night as I go off to sleep. Sue Grafton is my favorite this week and am amazed at how much detail she puts into her work. YouTube is a favorite pasttime also. It's a great way to hear old songs that I love, and often pick a song and search out all other artists who have performed it. Lots of great finds on YouTube for sure. I'm started babysitting one of the little grandchildren so that's exciting, and a privilege. I'm happy to think she'll have some nice memories of grandma and grandpa as she gets older. I know I cherish mine of Mama and Papa as we called them.

That made my day to find you back online with us. A little cold weather and by golly you reappear ! I am looking forward to a quick journal summary of your Summer activities. Hope all is going well for you. Hugs & grins Ohana
Give me a big hello if you become active on DS so I can add you back !
I'll leave a hug on your door step. It is obvious you will not find it until winter but it will keep.
Hello !!! Are you doing OK ? Enjoying summer ? Going on a vacation ? Are you sick in bed, white water rafting or playing too much with the grands ? LOL
Hey Girl, just checking up on you. I notice that everyone is kinda away from the board right now. I know it's summer and everyone is playing. Just wanted to make sure you are OK. Hope you are and that you're having a GREAT summer.
Don't burn. LOL

Finally, the sciatica is under control! I'm a 61 year old woman in very good health except for three things. Sciatica/back problems and a very high cholesterol of 500. And recently some nodules have been found on my thyroid and lymph nodes/lung. I'm trying to work thru it all, which sometiems isn't easy. This site is fantastic and I've learned so much already from its members.
I've had lower back problems most of my life, and it's probably because of working at at desk for 40 years or so. There's some osteo, cervical spondolosis, scoloiosis, compression, arthritis, things that like. All combined, when "IT" rages, it's painful and am now working on finding out what causes IT to happen so I can deal with it better and move on with a life without pain.
I've been looking thru this site because my husband and daughter both have Psoriasis and Psoriatic arthritis, though to different degrees. I know some about it, but not as much as I need to know and DS is helping so much.
I've had a hiatial hernia for over 10 years. Sometimes it acts up, especially if I drink too much coffee. Asprin is out, so is wine, they just make the hernia act up immediately.
when I was 20 or so, my job required x-rays done, my first. Heal marks from TB showed. I never knew I had TB (still don't actually). But family members in the late 1940's, around the time I was 1 or so, had TB and were in sanatariums. One aunt died from TB when she was 19. So a spot showed up on a routine x-ray because of some chest pain I've been having. It might be heal marks, or something that has to be checked further. I'm so not sure, that's for sure *s*
this is for my husband. He was prescribed Meloxicam for diabetes, or so he thought. After posting this, I'll do an online search for what it is excactly but also rely on DS'ers because you all know from 1st hand experience, and that's what matters most.
Last March I had an ultra sound done on the carotid artery because my neuro doctor was concerned over my high cholesterol. She wanted to see if there was any justification to taking statins or not, and if there was plaque this would help. A nodule on my thyroid showed on the ultrasound and I went to an endo in April of 2008. He told me to wait a year to see if it grew.
I started smoking when I was about 13. Not much, but it was enough to give me chronic bronchitis and asthma. I didn't know back then that I had weakened lungs because of TB heal marks, and was very stupid as a kid. Even dumber as an adult because it took years to stop. But I did, and know without a doubt I wouldn't be writing this now if I hadn't stopped 25 years ago.
2 friends have Lupus, and worry about them so am looking up what it involves.
My arthritis sort of flares up just at the same time my back gives out. Because of the hiatal hernia, I'm just very cautious about taking anti-inflammatories, but have to at some point to relieve the pressure and get back to normal. This is always at a price to my stomach though. I've joined this group to see how other's with the same problem are dealing with it also.
just checking out this site since I'm going thru a respiratory infection and learning about treatments
