Today, January 25th, 2009 I celebrate my 22nd year being sober as a recovering alcoholic. Through AA and a lot of help from friends and strangers I am sober today. My soberity date is January 25th 1987. My life has been turned around and I have never forgotten where I've come form. It took many tries before I finally became sober. I am very grateful to many people who stood by me. I have kept my memory green so as not to forget what it was like during my drinking days. I had 4 drunk driving charges, spent time in jail and paid a lot of fines. Towards the end of my drinking I was a 24 hours a day drunk. I had many blackouts. It hurt me financially and socially. I was in the hospital several times. And the list goes on.
Today I am grateful to be alive. That's how bad it got during my drinking days. I am also lucky that I did not hurt anyine else. Clarence Jones.

Congratulations!!!!!It is a staircase isn't it, takeing the first step is the hardest, you don't have to see the whole staircase just the first step, and now you can look back with delight and see what a long way you have climbed and feel delight and see what a worthwhile climb it has been,so happy for you.Keep on climbing friend, don't ever go back, climb on, and upward, never go back down that staircase to despair again. It is good to give thanks.

Dear Clarence,
Twenty two years of sobriety, I am amazed at the amount of strength and courage you have shown to become sober and to stay sober. Your achievement is an inspiration for anyone trying to beat addiction as I've said to you many times before you are a real star.
You should write down your story and have it published in a journal, so that others might come to understand that with strength of purpose, character and sheer will power you can achieve almost anything and to do all this, even when struggling with another illness, AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations,
Aileen
