Sunday, March 29, 2009 | A Positive story

I was so excited on Thursday night.  My doctor gave a suggestion to help with sleep.  I did it and slept till noon on Friday.  Didn't do as well Friday nite, and definitely not tonight.  Sigh...

We had such a great Friday and Saturday.  A dear friend, and someone I am honored that he considers us friends, a most incredible man, an accomplished, internationally recognized professor and human rights leader...our friend...received two awards on Friday. We were invited to both events.  And as it turned out, the only people not connected to his university.  Wow.  Met some really interesting people.  We're all in different, but related, fields.  I felt so smart talking to everyone (not to mention, utterly charming...and I looked sensational - if I say so myself!).  Anyway, he invited us to his house this evening.  He does a yearly bash of all kinds of Southern food...like, 30 pounds of different kinds of meat...and catfish...and...all the sides.  This wasn't anywhere near that, but, oh my gosh, it was so good.  Some of his relatives were here...they are so much more open and welcoming than folks around here.  Maybe being an African-American Southern family has something to do with that.  Jo delighted everyone; Vanessa was wonderful; Michael and Marcella were awesome!

Then, we got home,  and ta da!  WIDE AWAKE!!!  So, I've been on, having wonderful conversation with a new friend.  I love it that it's all equal on DS.  We all have many roles to play, but that we can be friends, regardless of differences in characteristics, is awesomely cool!

It reminds me that no matter how bad it may be with certain members of my family, there still are lots of people in my life, both live and online, that really do love me and/or like me.  Something I think we all need to be reminded of, no matter what our age.  Doesn't make the hurt go away, but I'm not forlorn, do not feel forsaken,or depressed.  "Mother May I Take A Giant Step???"  Wait, some of you may not even know what that means...sigh!

OK, I'm done chatting and am going to bed.  I will try to stay in bed...and hopefully, sleep.

My friends, I really do love you and like you...sweet dreams!

Hope you got some sleep, I know that stinks. Lack of sleep can really mess with your mind. My mom and I were friends with a retired biology professor and his wife, who were from Ohio. When ever we went to their house (invited to dinner or whatever) I was always so taken by them because to me, they were from a whole different planet. I thought they were so cool!
