Hip POP Dancing!!! Mood
Wednesday, February 25, 2009 | A Frustrating story

I have really been enjoying my newest toy/exercise equipment (stripper pole) and have been dancing just about every day since I got it. This is a good thing. I have improved tremendously on the pole and my strength has also really improved as has my mood. I can also spin and such almost like a PRO now. Next goal is to be able to hang upside down and spin my way down. This will take a LOT of practice but it WILL HAPPEN!

So anyway, yesterday I spent about 15 minutes practicing spins and stuff on the pole with no worries. After my practice session I continued to dance in the bathroom as I readied myself to leave, Kid Rock was playing and then the song COWBOY came on. I was really getting into it and busting some moves in the bathroom when all of a sudden I heard and felt this horrific POP in my right hip. WTF?

It didn't really hurt when it popped, but it freaked me out and it is something that has never happened before. POP! Flash forward a couple of minutes later, when I attempted to walk up the stairs and excruciating pain shoots through my hip and leg. DAMN IT TO HELL! The pain continued to worsen all day yesterday and navigating steps was almost impossible. So last night I took the advice of some friends and iced my hip and took some ibuprofen, hoping that my hip would improve rather than worsen.

I AM happy to report that my hip does seem better today, as opposed to having worsened, but it is still far from being good. I certainly cannot go to my pole-dancing class tonight, nor can I practice at home. It is really frustrating though because I wasn't even on the pole when I did this. SHEESH! I'm still not even sure what I did to my hip, but considering the fact that it has not worsened, I am not planning to go to the doctor about it. Please don't tell me the hip popping is a result of getting old. I REFUSE TO GROW UP!!!

My new prescription is still agreeing with me and being pain free has enabled me to be much more productive and active, which has helped my mood TREMENDOUSLY, but now this HIP POP stuff happens. grrrr

Oh well.... back to putting an ice pack on my hip and stretching as best I can. I just needed to publicly whine about something! But fret not....I WILL DANCE AGAIN!!!!

BE WELL. Kiss

LOL...Good for you (on the dancing not the hip popping thing)! Where would someone find a stripper pole...say if they wanted to buy one?

Not to butt in, but if you "google" stripper poles online, tons of places to purchase them will come up.
I just had one installed in my studio that is over 10 feet tall and I love it!! Make sure that you are getting QUALITY!! If you plan to do any lifts and spins you DON'T want to be falling on your head!
    Have FUN!!!

Yah, I bought my stripper pole on eBay for $299 delivered. Mine is by a complany called x-pole and it was a snap to install and came with an instructional dve. It is a portable pole and like sexi said you will want quality so I paid a bit more for the pole, so I could do spins and lifts. You can get stationary poles cheaper but then you have to install it and have a pole wherever you put it, there forever.

It really is a lot of fun and certainly gets me exercising a lot more. Nice thing about pole dancing is you can be any shape, size or age to do it. YEEHAW!

I'm really thinking about it, but my coordination is NOT the best...lol. Is it hard to do all the lifts and stuff?

4myFam, it is not easy to do the lifts and stuff but mostly it requires you to be able to lift your own weight. I was sooooooooo sore I could barely move when I first got my pole. I started working with small hand weights and strap on ankle weights though. Really helped a LOT and I can sit and watch TV and just lift my legs and arms while I do. There are also a LOT of instructional videos on YouTube to aid you in learning how to do tricks on the pole.

My class is full of women of all shapes, sizes and ages so it is something that most all women can do and what I really like about it is the freedom to make the routine uniquely your own. I also find that men are quite complimentary to any woman on a pole, no matter how much she might suck. Hmmm.... I wonder why that is!

GIVE IT A SPIN! It is the BEST piece of equipment I have ever bought!

    BE WELL.

Yeah...I guess I will hold out on it then...lol. I can't even lift up a third of my weight!

Hi JA - As for me, I am hoping to "shake the mutz-a-rella" in a pool. Moving is important three-fold. thanks for sharing. Luv Ree
