Began at age 4 with pulling all my eyelashes out for a year or so. My mom helped by removing all mirrors. No pulling anywhere until I was 12 or 13 when one day I discovered a thicker than usual hair. I pulled it out and then went searching for more hairs like that. I've been searching since then and pulling. The only time I did not pull was when I lived in Africa. Could be diet related (I had no junk food at all there.) I have gone through periods of feeling insane and then accepting it.
DH and I have adopted 2 little girls from Russia (one came home in 2003 at 8 months of age, the other in 2005 at 12 months.) My older daughter is just beginning to ask questions about her birth mother and father. We have had contact with both girls' birthmothers and have photos and videos to show the girls if they so choose.
