Hi there, I have a friend who is dealing with secondary infertility and now has decided to give up on IVF since her RE has told her she has a low chance of conceiving. She is now thinking about adoption but does not know where to start. Any advice? I know this is a HUGE question, but a direction would be super helpful. Thanks!

Thanks!! I will of course be thrilled if it's one, but twins would be SO awesome!!! I can't wait to find out!! I'm a mixed-up combination of excited, stunned and utterly exhausted!! Steve is here . . . he's now a normal weight and almost healthy. Apparently he will forever be a carrier for a respiratory disease and will have periodic flare-ups. We had a really hard time getting rid of his congestion. But the latest round of meds seemed to have done the trick. Seems he's with us to stay . . . but I have kept his contact with my other cat to a minimum and so far so good . . . she is still healthy (she's 14 years old so I absolutely don't want her getting sick - she won't bounce back so easily!). Any news on your timeline? When do you expect to hear something?

On one hand, we know quite a bit . . . and then on the other it seems pretty limited at times . . . I guess you just make lots of assumptions based on the info you do have. We know medical history and weight, height, eye and hair color, complexion, medical info about her immediate and extended family . . . her education and career info . . . the forms themselves were informative . . . kind of like having a writing sample . . . . This is her first time as a donor so she is not proven . . . but has her own children so they were optimistic about her. There's more detail about her toward the end of a very long journal entry on 8/11 if you are interested.
How are you? Getting all ready? Excited yet? I'm excited for you . . . hope you hear more soon and get to take more steps forward ASAP!!

Close Miscarriage
Miscarried 3 x in 16 months. now its almost 3 yrs of TTC---started at age 38. Now I'm 41 and did NOT want to be pregnant at this age. So its pregnant at 40+ or not at all-what a choice. UPDATE: for some reason, I am much much more comfortable lately at getting preg. at this age. I accept it! it is what it is---and i'm good w/ it!
Close Infertility
TTC for close to 3 years now. Took meds for three months. Then off them for two months and became pregnant but lost the baby at 7weeks. More gonal F and iui--pregnant again then miscariied again. another D&C, back on gonal f--BFN"s, now on to IVF. if negative will adopt internationally bfp but m/c'd again

have a 3 yr old. just m/c for the 3rd time. I am not in agreement w/ people who try and minimize the pain of SI. I WILL have a second child and will not accept no for an answer.

I have been TTC for close to 3 years--starting at 38 and now i'm 41 and at the "end of the road", reproductively speaking). I miscarried twice in '07. I have had countless "au naturale" cycles about 10 cycles of assisted reproduction (2 clomid IUIs, 7 injectible-IUI's, and my 10th and FINAL chance was IVF. I just had a positive HPT now am m/cing.
