    • About Me

I'm 35, and overall pretty content with my life. I've got a great job in research (technical field), own a beautiful house in the country on 10 acres, and have many (MANY) wonderful kids (pets for those non-animal people). I have really worked on "me" in the last few years, and have a pretty decent level of self esteem and confidence. It can be shaken, but it seems like it takes less and less time to rebound!

    • Close Breast Cancer

I'm on the sidelines- my mom (and best friend)was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer in 2002. She is cancer free now! I'm joining just to keep informed.

    • Close Depression

I guess I've been dealing with depression on and off for many years. I do take meds for it that seem to work well for me. Doesn't seem to do a lot for the social anxiety though.

      Treatments

      Lexapro Not Working
it seemed to work, but had side effects that I didn't like.
      Celexa Working / Worked
Seems to work well for the depression. I can tell when I "would" be depressed, but the meds don't let me.
    • Open Anxiety

I did a self-diagnosis a long time ago and came up with social anxiety. This was confirmed about a year ago by a psychologist I had to see because of some work problems. I take celexa for depression, but I don't really think it does anything for the anxiety. I do try hard to "force" myself into situations that aren't really in my comfort zone, and pat myself on the back when I "survive". I think pushing myself has been the best treatment so far. That and support from friends and family.

      Treatments

      Lexapro Somewhat Helpful
Not sure it did much for the anxiety, but helped with the depression. It had side effects that I didn't like, so I switched to celexa.
      Paxil Not Working
The worst experience I've even had with medication!
      Celexa Working / Worked
Seems to help a lot with the depression... not sure it does anything for the anxiety. Finding a medication that works is tough, I guess.
