    • About Me

      I'm a rape survivor - that's why I joined ds in March 2008. I'm studying psychology...possibly getting a master's in social work, or maybe going on to get a PhD? I love English literature and foreign languages, especially American Sign Language and German. I work out often - I love to run. I want to compete in a sprint triathalon within the next year. I love warm weather and probably belong somewhere where I can grow avacados and mangos in trees in my yard. I really like photography.

      I was date raped 4 days after my 19th birthday. I have made a lot of progress and am moving on with my life. :)

      Treatments

      Physical Exercise Working / Worked
      After I run, I feel like I am invincible; no one can touch me. I like all kinds of working out - weights, swimming, rowing, the elliptical, rollerblading, running. It especially helps with my anger.
      Psychotherapy Working / Worked
      I went to a counselor 2 1/2 days after I was assaulted; it has been a huge help. Talking to a counselor is wonderful.
      Talking Working / Worked
      I talk to close friends and family all the time; I always feel a little better after I get all of my emotions out.
    • Close Healthy Eating

      I've been an emotional eater ever since I can remember, and now I could stand to lose a good 20 pounds. I just cannot stop eating when I'm not hungry - it's like I'm addicted to dessert! I'm hoping this group will help me eat healthier foods and eat when I'm hungry, not when I'm emotional or bored or out of habit.

      I have exercised consistently for a good 6 or 7 years, and it helps keep my weight steady.
