Id like to hear other couples like me with illness in there home who have to take care of spouce and how they cope and support groups for this. Anyone who knows of any or has simular story add me to chat some time hugs sandy

When my father was 16, he broke his hip and had to ride in a train box car many miles to get it taken care of. He ended up with one leg shorter than the other. All my life, i saw that man go through numerous surgeries because of knee problems and i've seen him on crutches, with canes, and nothing "free walking". He made his own rehabilitation equipment with sand bags and pulleys. When I was complaining one day about how my legs hurt from "growing pains" i remember him telling me "i live with pain every day of my life" and i've never forgotten that. This is a man that helped raise 4 kids, got up and went to work everyday, did as much as he could around the house, and i never once heard him complain. During the last years of my mothers life, he drove her two hours each way three days a week to her dyalisis treatments. He did this for 5 YEARS!!! through snow blizzards, freezing temperatures, no matter what! One day while trying to help my mom into the van, she slipped and he tried to catch her, causing himself a DOUBLE HERNIA! that required surgery. And i never once heard him complain. This man has the patience of a saint, and the tending nature of a 'true man'. So when i hear about other 'men' like your husband, it makes me want to retch (sorry)! My dad is now 82 years old with minor heart problems but still doesn't let even that stop him. Your husband should be ashamed of himself!!!! Maybe he should read this... and feel guilty. Lots of hugs and kisses to you girlfriend, thanks for letting me vent. Deb :o)
