    • About Me

My official diagnosis is: Bipolar 1 severe with Psyhosis. I am a Type A overachiever who typically operates very well in a hypomania state, but I get into trouble when I go "manic". I have had three psychotic episodes which required hospitalization. The last two episodes occurred back to back and even landed me in jail. Other than that, my personal bio is: I'm a mechanical engineer. I've been divorced twice and have no children.

    • Close Bipolar Disorder

      I have been diagnosed w/BP 1 severe w/psychosis. I have been unable o work for 3 years.

      Treatments

      Lamictal Working / Worked
Fantastic at stabilizing mood but does not help with the depression. I love this stuff.
      Cymbalta Not Working
Did not help my sleep disturbances at all made them worse.
      Depakote Working / Worked
      Group Therapy Working / Worked
Did not work when I was hospitalized at all because the therapy was "generic" to address a variety of illnesses that the participants had. Has worked for family group therapy and group therapy specific to Bipolar.
      Holistic Health Working / Worked
Very spiritual. Gives you more control of mind, body, soul. Most helpful therapy of all. Vitamins, nutrition, exercise, prayer, meditation, yoga, relaxation, journaling, etc.
      Lamictal Not Working
sent me into a manic episode
      Lexapro Working / Worked
Helped the depression tremendously then lost its effectiveness. No side effects at all.
      Lithium Not Working
Horrible, horrible drug. Constant diahrea. Felt like my system was poisoned. Metal taste in mouth. Would NEVER take this again.
      Lunesta Working / Worked
Did not help my sleep disturbances at all made them worse.
      Risperdal Working / Worked
Helped my psychosis tremendously. Impaired short term memory, concentration and coordination. Consequently, I had to give up a lot of independence (driving, reading, etc.)
      Wellbutrin Not Working
      Made me manic.
      Zoloft Working / Worked
Helped the depression tremendously then lost its effectiveness. No side effects at all.
