Close Chronic Pain
I dislocated my right elbow on an exercise in the military. They re-set it and I had extensive physical therapy and went back to duty within 2 weeks. 8 years later I started having numbness and tingling and they found nerve damage from the re-set. I have right ulnar neuropathy, CRPS, and depression.

- not much can be done here-with the crps everything irritates my arm and causes more pain than the pain!

- Had in for 8 hours-placed the temporary unit in the wrong place in my spinal column and caused more pain than my right arm was causing me I had them rip it out and...it's a long story but I won't go within a hundred miles of one of those things again!

Open Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionI have severe chronic pain from damaged nerves and arthritic knees (bone on bone) . Although the pain started years ago-I began to "just live with it" But it must have beat me, because I was diagnosed with severe depression about 4 years ago, like many of you-I know I really had it longer than that

- Positive thinking, writing down how I feel, the possible outcomes of certain issues, and not just concentrating on ME, also do not speculate what others may be thinking.

- I used to be a very positive person until the pain and depression wore me down. Through CBT, I have been able to "look at the bright side" on many issues, I also learned that organizing your day and scheduling things like -cleaning a bathroom work. My whole day is scheduled out and I realize the thing I hate most-structure-is the thing that will help me most.

- Yes-but I take loads of it!

- Most of my therapy is CBT. I need to stay on a schedule and see my therapist regularly or I find things start building up. It is something I may have to do for tyhe rest of my life and I am ok with that.

- Some family members are supportive-others are not. I focus on the positive thinkers and stay away from the ones that don't even bother to ask how I am. (even after I ask how they are) Family-or not! I can't afford to waste my time on negative people who think I am taking money from the government-or the ones who don't act interested in what I have to say. Good bye-negative people! I find a happy poitive person can make me laugh and that is who I want to spend time with

I was stationed in Panama as an MP. LOVED IT! 1983-1986, I spent 3 months in Honduras-great stuff! Now I am a Disabled Vet in PAIN!
