and not so little
Diagnosed with colorectal cancer Mar08. Had high anterior resection of the colon. Good news they got all the visible cancer, bad news it spread to the muscle and lymph node. 8 months chemo, finished Dec08. In remission. Hadn't drank or smoked for 10 years, and exercised 2hrs every day before diagnosed with colon cancer. Nutrition was excellent and no odd bowel movements. Friend was dying and urged me to have a colonoscopy, so I did. Feeling great now, back training martial arts 5 days a week.
Had a pretty unhappy childhood. Mum died from chronic alcoholism, and I masked my grief and continued the vicious cycle until I woke up one morning and saw my Mum in the mirror, but it was me. Placed myself in Rehab, went to AA and have been sober 10 years on 23May.
In about 86, developed prolactinaemia. Discovered Pituitary tumour and continued to have it monitored until 94 when it doubled in size. Had tumour removed transphenoidally. Prior had numerous hormonal problems, one being no children. Fell pregnant two months after surgery and have a beautiful daughter. Developed 'empty fossa' syndrome as a result.
Shattered lower vertebrae. Had sciatica down left leg, developed to a crippling stage. Surgery followed (Lumbar laminectomy) and was 75% invalid. Nope, wasn't going to accept that, so underwent intensive physio, aqua rehab and acupuncture. Set goals for myself. Took control, and got active. Worked it hard, and achieved black belt in TaeKwonDo 8 years post surgery. Miracles happen, if your mind allows.
