I often find myself tired enough to go to bed early--sometimes as early as 6-7PM. Lately I've been doing this several days a week--but hadn't thought to write about it here--not sure if due to bipolar or to Depakote, which my gp had said has the side effect of sleepiness.
Then one of my Daily Strength friends mentioned that sunshine has been affecting his bipolar by making him feel depressed. It reminded me that last year--before I'd started on medication--I also felt tired enough to go to bed very early most late spring and summer nights.
What he said was interesting because it gave me new insight into why I get so tired in the spring and summer--usually when light and the change in seasons affect one's mood and energy level, it's the dark days of fall and winter that bring on depression.
I wonder how many others who have bipolar get depressed during the sunshiny days of spring and summer.
