Some good advice from my counselor. Mood
Tuesday, June 17, 2008 | An Educational story

I had an appointment with her this morning and told her how I've been a bit manic, spending money foolishly on stuff like shoes and DVD's.

She suggested that I look at my spending in the following way: Spending on DVD's or shoes means no money for food for my cat or for my cable bill. Because obviously I'm not going to want to give my cat to the pound or get rid of cable.

So when I'm tempted to spend  on shoes and DVD's, I should ask myself what I'd rather have--the shoes or DVD's, or my cat and cable?

I think this is a good idea for anybody, whether they've bipolar or not, who's tempted to spend money they don't have.
