This may sound selfish...... Mood
Tuesday, June 10, 2008 | A Venting story

but I'm glad I'm not in a relationship. I don't think I could be married to or otherwise in a relationship with a partner who was so insecure as to not want me to "talk" to and be friends with other people online. After all, people I'm friends with on this site and on other sites live more often than not hundreds, if not thousands of miles away. I can't afford to travel to where they are, wouldn't be able to do so if I could afford to, and they're busy with lives of their own so it's not like they'd be visiting me.

As I said, my views on this may sound selfish, but I think in light of the fact that this is a site intended for people to support one another with their problems, it shouldn't make a difference what sex one's friends are. For to decide to drop your male friends because one has an insecure husband, or your female friends because one has an insecure wife, is denying yourself the chance to be supportive with 1/2 of the people on this site.

Well said. Sometimes a friend is just that.
