Wish Me Luck--I'm Going To Need It Mood
Monday, June 2, 2008 | An Anxious story

Thursday afternoon I got a call from my doctor's office. They found the results of a blood test I'd had about a month before and said my liver enzymes were elevated. The  nurse who'd called said they want to rule out hepatitis. So Friday morning I had the bloodwork done and am now sweating out the results. I was tested for hepatitis B and C, and something else I can't recall. And I've been seeing what I can find on DS and in books about hepatitis.

A couple of questions:

1. Are there any other things besides hepatitis that can cause elevated liver enzymes--if so, what?

2. I've read that hepatitis C and hepatitis B are contracted through blood and blood products like getting a transfusion, when drug users share needles, and from using razor blades and other things that could have an infected person's blood on them. But I don't recall having had or done any of the above--so are there other ways they can be contracted?

Anyway, wish me luck!
