THE INTENSE PAIN STARTED ABOUT 4:00 AM SATURDAY MORINING. MUSCLE RELAXER AND PAIN PILL WORKED UNTIL MONDAY AM. WOKE UP WITH PAIN SO EXTREME THAT IT LITERALLY TOOK MY BREATH AWAY. NOTHING GOT IT TO STOP. MY DOCTOR TOLD ME TO GO TO ER RIGHT AWAY WHICH I DID. THE PAIN IS CONSTANT PLUS COMES IN WAVES ON TOP OF IT. IT IS FROM THE MIDDLE OF MY BACK TO THE MIDDLE OF MY BOTTOM AND SOLID FROM SIDE TO SIDE. I CAN'T SIT DOWN, STAND UP, LAY DOWN WITHOUT QUITE LITERALLY SCREAMING.
SO I WENT TO ER UP HERE....I SAT THERE FOR OVER 2 HOURS WITHOUT EVER BEING SEEN EXCEPT FOR A BLOOD DRAW. NOTHING FOR THE PAIN EXCEPT AFTER I HAD BEEN THERE ALMOST TWO HOURS AND AFTER MICHAEL HAD BICHED, THEY GAVE ME ONE VICODIN. I HAD TOLD THEM THAT BY MY DOCTORS ORDERS I HAD ALREADY TRIED VICODIN AND IT WASN'T WORKING. MIKE THEN ASKED HOW MUCH LONGER AND WAS TOLD ABOUT ANOTHER HOUR OR SO. AT THAT POINT TOLD HIM I WANTED TO COME HOME.
BY THE TIME I GOT HOME, THERE WAS A MESSAGE FROM THE ER. I CALLED THEM BACK AND THEY WANTED TO KNOW WHY I HAD LEFT...I TOLD THEM. THEY THEN SAID I HAD A HIGH WBC AT WHICH POINT I SAID I KNOW AND YOU SHOULD HAVE ALSO...I TOLD 3 PEOPLE THAT AND THAT I WAS SEEING A SPECIALIST FOR THAT. THEY KEPT WANTING ME TO COME BACK AND I FINALLY SAID NO WAY....SO I CAN SIT THERE ANOTHER 2 HOURS WITH UNREAL PAIN AND NOTHING TO HELP WITH IT? THEY THEN SAID, WELL SINCE YOU ARE ADDICTED TO PAIN MEDICATIONS AT WHICH POINT I WENT EXCUSE ME? HE SAID IT AGAIN AND I ASKED HIM WHAT MADE HIM SAY THAT. HIS ANSWER WAS WELL,, YOU TAKE VICODIN, ROBAXIN AND PERCOCET. AT POINT I SAID, HOW DARE YOU? I TOLD YOU WHAT I HAD TRIED BY MY DOCTOR'S ORDERS FOR THIS BECAUSE IT WAS NECESSARY FOR YOU TO KNOWWHAT HADN'T WORKED I HAVE TAKEN MAYBE A TOTAL OF 5 PERCOCET IN MY ENTIRE LIFE AND THE LAST TIME I REFILLED MY VICODIN PRESCRIPTION WAS 9 MONTHS AGO. HE SAID WELL, HOW WERE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT? I SAID, TRY ASKING!!!
I THEN CALLED THE KAISER ADVICE NURSE...BLESS HER...SHE ARRANGED TO HAVE AN ABUMLANCE SENT UP HERE TO TAKE ME TO KAISER ER IN FONTANA.IT TOOK 5 PAIN SHOTS TO STOP THE PAIN FOR AWHILE. THEY COULDN'T FIND WHAT WAS CAUSING IT BUT SAID I HAD A BLADDER INFECTION. I GOT HOME ABOUT 4;00 AM WITH ANOTHER PRESCRIPTION FOR PAIN AND ANITIBIOTIC. I TALKED TO MY DOCTOR YESTERDAY ALSO...I SEE HIM TOMORROW. ALL THE PAIN MEDICATION DOES IS MAKE ME SLEEP...WHEN I WAKE UP, I WAKE UP SCREAMING FROM THE SPASMS. I AM COMPLETELY DRAINED, MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY.

My blood is boiling!!! This is what my wife faces all the time! We finally went to the ER so many times, they kept a Dilaudid syringe loade and ready! This was Kaiser, too! I took a unit of AOD in university. I don't know much, but I do know not to throw the term drug addict around when acute, chronic pain is involved. Eff me till I cry!!! Sorry, being crude is not really me. I just have a trigger for this situation of yours. Now, I am sending psychic support. Screw it, somebody told me I am, so that is it. I am probably just crazy. So be it. Crazy empathic for my friends. Praying, too. Nuff said.

We, my mother and I, have had to battle with hospitals before. We won in the end and I hope and pray you do too. I'm so sorry you're suffering so badly but glad you gave them what-for!!

Take the pain meds and sleep. It's the only relief you're getting.
Isn't it amazing how an ER will dote on some people who are obvious druggies and we show up in agony and they check us out to see how much drug "abuse" we are involved in. We're in pain!!!! MORONS!!!
So sorry you had to go through this. I know it zaps you mentally and physically.
OK, so you see the doctor tomorrow. Hopefully he/she can pull these symptoms all together...back pain, high white blood cell count...have you ever had a kidney infection???? or stones???
Just thinking outloud.
Will be praying for you that tonite you will sleep and be ready for the doctor tomorrow.

you are in my prayers love...i am so sorry that the world has made even drs cynical...to assume you are addicted to the meds, it is a shame...but sadly too many people are. i am thankful that you found someone to help you, and i pray that they figure this out so you may get some peace...

That is so shocking :( You poor dear :( I hate having Kaiser insurance. I hope that it is just a bladder infection and the antibiotics have you feeling better in no time. Big hugs to you. Oh, and Solo says hi to Jake :)

Thank all of you so much...unfortunately I am sitting here trying not to scream from the pain...nothing is stopping it...I pray my doctor can do something this AM. one of my best friends died last night in his sleep of pancreatic cancer.
