This is my letter.
(Please give it to the people your going to see, Tatt, if it meets your satisfaction.)
Good day. I hope you are feeling well today and I hope you will listen to me while I say what needs to be said. Please open your ears and hearts and do not turn a blind eye like so many others. I am a good person and I do deserve to be heard.
My name is Dixie, I am happily married and I am a mother of 3 wonderful girls. I am a successful business person who pays her taxes and contributes to society. But all of what I have just said really does not matter. Why? You ask, well let me explain…
You see, I somehow became infected with a virus that has a huge stigma attached to it! The former Dixie fades into the past and I am now seen as some kind of a drug addict, a prostitute and maybe even a criminal who has done hard time. I am someone who deserves to have hepatitis C and I deserve to die from a liver disease. I am someone who should be looked down upon, a lower class citizen who should not be treated with respect. I am now the biggest loser of the losers. Wow! I did not see that one coming but this is how so many people now see me.
Who did this to me? Who allowed this stigma to form? Who is allowing it to carry on? It just is not right! Not right at all. It must be stopped. Put yourself in my shoes for crying out loud. It can happen to you. You may even already have hepatitis C. Did you know that it is known as the silent killer because it often has no symptoms….are you the new loser to join the club? Pray you did not have any surgery or blood transfusions. Pray that you saw a dentist who sterilized his tools properly. Pray you never came in contact with infected blood or you too may get to become one of the biggest losers!
No one asks to have this virus just like no one asks to get cancer so why are we with hepatitis c treated so poorly? I believe everyone deserves to be treated equally, especially when they become ill. This is a difficult time for us and all this discrimination does not make it any easier. Give us a break!
Hepatitis C is an illness and needs to be treated as such. Can you please help stop the discrimination? This is all I ask.
(the end)
So what do you think???
Is this an o.k. letter?

This was truly a heart felt letter which moved me greatly...it was a story about your personal life and how it was affected w/o all the statistics that sometimes bog down the truth. Imp info is important but it is good to see both sides.....congrats
May you have strength and faith that you will soon be complete w/you tx and can continue on...good comes from bad and the good you have contributed to this cause is maybe the reason you contracted this...
love you braverabbit...
