I'm sorry EthanH. I don't know what to say really, except God knows what you are going through and not only that He has an answer. It might not come as headache relief though; however, I'm praying it will. I just want you to know I'll be on my knees for you for an answer, and I'll be expecting one, because my Father in Heaven always answers hugs to you and flowers too. Love in Christ, Suzy Q.

    • Close Depression
      Type: Clinical (Major) Depression

Right out of college I became seriously depressed and sought help from a behavioral psychiatrist who helped me enormously and prescribed anti-depressants. After many years depression-free, I'm struggling once again. My father was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. We worked together, and now I'm at a loss to know what to do with my life. (I quit screenwriting and novel writing to devote myself to finance.) I have lost my desire to create and my sense of focus, and have no clear goal.

      Treatments

      Celexa Working / Worked
      Working, but I'm tapering off.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Working / Worked
This helped me enormously, but it has been about ten years since I've seen my great therapist. Now I've moved away, and live in a small town where there is limited help for mental issues.
      Meditation Working / Worked
Helps enormously with stress and anxiety, especially in combination with Yoga.
      Paxil Somewhat Helpful
Least effective of the anti-depressants I tried, and difficult to get off of.
      Wellbutrin Too Soon to Tell
I've not been on this medication long enough to tell for sure whether it is helping or whether the benefits outweigh the negatives.
      Writing Not Working
As a writer/artist by trade, depression hurt my ability to write and create, and it provided little relief for depression.
      Zoloft Working / Worked
First antidepressant I was on. Helped fantastically, within a few days. Only eventually did it seem to wear off.
    • Close Multiple Myeloma
      Stage: III

My father was diagnosed with MM last summer. It has changed not only his life, but my mother's, mine, and the lives of my sisters and just about everyone and everything we do. Some contact with others who understand this would be so helpful, I can't even tell you.

      Treatments

      Dexamethasone Working / Worked
      He's in nCR
      Velcade Working / Worked
      So far. He's in nCR
      Cyclophosphamide Working / Worked
      Hopefullyapparently. He is in nCR
    • Open Migraine Headaches

My mother, sisters and I have suffered from migraine. My first migraine happened in Middle School. I actually came to Daily Strength for other issues (Depression and Cancer), but Migraine and various chronic pain of the head are a major issue that are adding to my depression, and I hope it's okay to sign up here. Imitrex has helped enormously, but recently I am getting headaches that do not respond to Imitrex.

      Treatments

      Aspirin Somewhat Helpful
Rarely, sometimes in combination with high dose caffeine and niacin.
Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Somewhat Helpful
I avoid red wine, for sure. Otherwise, the weather is the major factor for my worst migraines.
      Caffeine Somewhat Helpful
Sometimes, in combination with NSAIDS, Niacin or Aspirin
      Excedrin Working / Worked
Sometimes helps a lot, usually in combination with high dose niacin plus yoga and weight lifting.
      Imitrex Working / Worked
      Usually works. Just incredibly expensive.
      Magnesium Not Working
I take large doses of magnesium every day because of my exercise regimen, and it has done nothing, ever, to prevent or alleviate migraine.
