Type: Clinical (Major) Depression

Had first major depression when divorced at 22, although in retrospect suffered as child. Mother was clinically depressed as well. It has been mostly managed over the years, kind of coming and going over the years. Have been on different kinds of anti-depressants. Depression has recently returned over last few years as a result of ongoing problems with teenage daughter using drugs, rebelling etc. Blame myself and in turn everything is out of sorts right now.

Treatments

Effexor Somewhat Helpful

Just stopped effexor about 2 months ago. I found it helped but constipation was so severe and felt bland. My depression has returned crying, anxiety etc. Doctor has given me prescription to try Remeron that I haven't tried yet. Am leery of weight gain.

Elavil Working / Worked

Elavil was one of the first medications I tried in my 20's. It made me too lethargic.

Prozac Working / Worked

Prozac worked wonderfully for me first time I tried it. Went off it. Was put on a second time and the first 2 weeks it made me feel suicidal and anxious.

Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked

I had one psychiatrist that was good for listening, but I haven't seen him for a while and have to get another referral which will take awhile unfortunately. Husband is supportive to a degree, but I find some friends and family don't understand so is why I decided to check options online.
