Sorry you're feeling bad. I hope you are doing better soon. I know how you feel about your pain and the meds. I feel the same, and I have taken hydrocodone so long that I am dependent on it, and my new doc has to send me to pain mgt to get me back to my normal dose because he can't write it for that much! That sucks!! So I am PRAYING I don't run out before my next appt. Hope you feel better!! :)

Close Fibromyalgia
Was diagnosed a few years ago with Fibro. On top of this I have 8 herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis and bilateral carpal tunnel!! Oh the joy!
Treatments
- Aqua Therapy Considering
- Gotta invest in a Hot Tub!!
- Cymbalta Working / Worked
- Seems to have helped with my Fibro. Only drawback for me is I can't sleep, other than that I feel okay. It's still early on in my treatment so I hope that nasty side-effect will fade.
- Elavil Considering
- Need to do further research on this as I have heard pro and con.
- Heat Somewhat Helpful
- Lyrica Not Working
- Took it last year for a while...couldn't tell it did anything really...other than make me dizzy!
- TENS Not Working
- Ultram Not Working
- Aleve worked better than this for me!
Close Back Pain
Have eight (8) herniated/ruptured discs in the Cervical, Thoracic and Lumbar regions. Also have Degenerative Disc Disease, Spinal Stenosis, Bilateral Carpal Tunnel and Fibromyalgia...just to name a few!! How's that for a mix??!

- Carisoprodol Working / Worked
- Chiropractic Adjustment Working / Worked
- Cortisone (Injection) Working / Worked
- Am concerned as to long term damaging effects if any.
- Epidural Injection Working / Worked
- Heat Somewhat Helpful
- Hydrocodone Working / Worked
- It works ok I guess, I just hate taking pills all the time...especially of the controlled substance kind!!
- Ibuprofen Somewhat Helpful
- Naproxen Somewhat Helpful
- Physical Therapy Not Working
- Didn't work for me and only further aggravated my pain!
- Relaxation Working / Worked
- Stretching Not Working
- Here again, aggravated my symptoms to no end!
Open Chronic Pain
Chronic Pain caused by Fibromyalgia, 8 Herniated Discs, degenerative Disc Disease, Cervical Spondylitis, Spinal Stenosis, and BiLateral Carpal Tunnel. Yep...that's Chronic Pain alright!!
Treatments
- Chiropractic Adjustment Working / Worked
- Used chiropractor for years and only stopped last year after my MRI showed the 7 herniated discs. Also I think it made my chiro a little nervous. He stopped manipulating the spine as much and only used traction and massage. I loved it tho!
- Cymbalta Working / Worked
- Seems to have helped with the all-over achy pain with my back and my Fibro. Only drawback for me is I can't sleep, other than that I feel okay. It's still early on in my treatment so I hope that nasty side-effect will fade.
- Flexeril Working / Worked
- Have taken these as well as Skelaxin and Robaxin. I prefer Skelaxin. The Robaxin gives me a headache and the Flexeril makes me want to sleep for days! I'm a lightweight!
- Heat Somewhat Helpful
- Hydrocodone Working / Worked
- Have only been prescribed on few occasions. They worked tho...but again, I can't take a high dosage...it just makes me nauseous.
- Lyrica Not Working
- Didn't work at all that I could tell.
- Marijuana Considering
- unfortunately...it's illegal to possess even a small amt. in my State but i'm about to the point of "take me to jail!"
- Naproxen Somewhat Helpful
- Eat these puppies like Pez. They do take the edge off...but wreak havoc on your Liver...double-edged Sword!!
- Nerve Blocks Working / Worked
- Worked really well in the Lumbar region of my back.
- Physical Therapy Not Working
- Aggravated my condition to no end! Will never do again!! Was out of work for a week after 1 physical therapy session for my back! Nevvah evvah do again,,,,
- TENS Not Working
- Have used in the past...but since my muscles never stop "firing" and stay in a constant spasm, this is not for me.
Open Anxiety
Was diagnosed with a Panic Disorder several years ago (at least 22 years now). Have had the mind blowing panic attacks that go with it!
Treatments
- Breathing Exercises Working / Worked
- If I can make myself focus on my breathing during an active panic attack, I can usually control it.
- Breathwork Working / Worked
- When I feel myself "losing it" as I call it, I purposefully make myself focus on slowing my breathing and I then try to divert my attention to something other than the panic attack. This works best for me.
- Klonopin Working / Worked
- When I feel a panic episode approaching I can usually offset the hyperventilation by taking a Xanax or Klonopin.
- Lexapro Not Working
- Was actually put on this for PMDD...what resulted was a triggering of the beginning of my Fibromyalgia! This stuff should be taken off the market!!
- Paxil Not Working
- Took this for years...made me more or less not care for anything or anyone! Had to slowly wean myself off this stuff!
- Xanax Working / Worked
- Can usually offset the hyperventilation that accompanies my acute panic disorder with this.
Open Degenerative Disc Disease
Was diagnosed a few years back with DDS along with Fibro, 7 Herniated Discs and Spinal Stenosis.
