Proud Mood
Tuesday, October 7, 2008

My son is in football now, he is going to turn 10 this month and is becoming a little man. I am very proud of him. After the first game they played Saturday where the lost I overheard him tell one of his team mates, "It's OK man, we did our best. we learned how to beat um next time"

They played again Sunday trying to catch up from Hurricane and won. All my son said was, "they played a good game, we just played a little better"

There are small moments where you know you did OK raising your kids....

Isn't that a great feeling? Knowing your kid has a great attitude and shares that attitude with his/her peers is just the best compliment we can receive as parents.
Congratulations on raising a fine young man.

New Sport Mood
Monday, September 29, 2008

Well yesterday was interesting....hubby is an avid hunter and he and my son bow hunt. They have a series of targets on the property and often go out for hours to target practice.

Well, yesterday I got my own bow. I was actually kinda excited. The guy at the hunting store showed us bows ranging from $300 to $5000..Are you kidding me?!??!?  I got what I thought was a really nice bow and it was only $300 on sale. It was hard to pull but so much easier than hubby's. I learned all about the pull weight and all that. We went home and hubby adjusted everything for me this morning. While he was doing that I was looking up my bow online..It's a youth bow lol! I am such a wimp! It's all I can handle and my son thinks it's funny. They call it my baby bow...

Tonight we went out for target practice. I at least hit the target and didn't have to hunt for my arrows ...lol.  But I'm having a hard time getting it centered.

WHAT A WORKOUT!!! My arms and shoulders are burning! Good thing I have been lifting for the past month! I was proud I could even do it and had the strength. This is a big deal.

My son was trying to help me and it was really fun. What a great thing to do as a family. No couch potatoes here!

Well, I lost my first arrow this morning....I misfired and it went into the pond:(

And this is why you don't buy the newbie $10 graphite arrows!...You buy her fiberglass ones! You can't find them with the metal detector but hey, they are only $3 each!

I did make 4 out of 5 arrows in the red 3 times!..Ha!

Missing my mom Mood
Thursday, September 18, 2008

Today is my Birthday and I know hubby will make it special. He already got me a set of Reebok speed weights and the  heart monitor I wanted. I really don't expect anything else but I know him well enough to know there will be more. (very sweet man)

Anyway, I got 2 cards from my mom...one sweet and thoughtful and the other hilarious. My parents live in Chicago and I have not seen my mom in a year and my dad in almost 2. My mom and I were mortal enemies when I was a kid but we have reconciled this and now I miss her terribly. We talk for hours almost every week and send Emails constantly,  but the cards hit me hard and I started crying uncontrollably during my walk this morning.

I think this may be in part because my kidneys are hurting again and I'm scared. The last time this happened and I went in for testing the Doc threatened dialysis if I didn't fix it. I began drinking water like a fool and really began to work on my health. Now what? I am doing everything and they are hurting again. This may sound stupid but I want my Momma!

Happy Birthday Happy! Missing/ wanting your Mom when you feel bad doesn't sound stupid. I often feel the same way. Mostly because...as sweet as my husband is...and as much as my kids love me...none of them are really great at care taking. I am the care taker in my home so when I am down who is going to care for me? I think it's natural. I hope your kidneys don't give you too much pain or that you will need dialysis...I'll be sending you positive energy!
