Close Asthma
Type: Adult AsthmaI had seasonal allergies as a child that progressed to year-round allergies when I was 23. As a result of the bad allergies, I now have allergy induced asthma.
Treatments
- Advair Somewhat Helpful
- Discontinued last year, went to just Flovent
- Albuterol Working / Worked
- I just switched to Xopenex since the regular albuterol inhalers will be off the market by the end of the year. Otherwise it works very well.
- Flovent Working / Worked
- I need this more in the winter months, but I stay on it all year now to keep the inflammation at bay.
- Singulair Working / Worked
- First asthma med I tried and love it! I can definitely tell if I miss a dose or two of this.
- Symbicort Working / Worked
- D/C the Flovent after a round of pneumoni. Works very well and I like it much better than Advair for me.
- Xopenex Working / Worked
- Just started this last month. I like it a lot...don't get as jittery and doesn't have the bad aftertaste.
Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionI had my first major depressive episode when I was 19. I have had 5 more since then, with post-partum depression added in there. Years of physical and emotional abuse created a very depressive environment that I struggle to get out of even though I am almost 35
Treatments
- Cymbalta Working / Worked
- I started this last November and it has worked well for me.
- Effexor Not Working
- My blood pressure soared through the roof with this drug.
- Paxil Working / Worked
- Worked great for the generalized anxiety, but made me sleepy.
- Prozac Working / Worked
- Used this with first major depressive episode. Worked well, but major insomnia problems
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- Trazodone Working / Worked
- Use currently for sleep and have used in the past for sleep
- Zoloft Working / Worked
- Worked great for post-partum depression. However, it did not work well for my latest depressive episode.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Working / Worked
Open Environmental Allergies
Type of allergy: Multiple Chemical SensitivityI have pretty severe dust and dust mite allergies. Slight allergies to cats and dogs, but can tolerate them in the house. As of late, my allergies are getting worse, which greatly effects my asthma, so I am getting re-tested in a couple of weeks.
Treatments
- Allegra Not Working
- First allergy med I tried...never worked for me
- Flonase Too Soon to Tell
- Just started Veramyst. I do like it so for, but only used for a week
- Nasacort AQ Not Working
- I used this after sinus surgery. It worked, but it burned my nasal passages and throat
- Nasal Irrigation Working / Worked
- Nasonex Somewhat Helpful
- I just stopped using this one and went to Veramyst. I couldn't tolerate the nose bleeds.
- Singulair Working / Worked
- I use this for asthma, but I am sure it helps my allergies too.
- Zyrtec Working / Worked
- Works great for me!
