PFT Today for Spiration

I'm a single working grandmother of six, mother to two. I work fulltime in a busy job. I was diagnosed with COPD February 2008 but knew I was in big trouble years before that, just avoided going to the doctor. I quit smoking in Sept. 07. This happened when I couldn't walk out to the car and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to continue to work. I also decided to go see the doctor, that was in February 2008. I was diagnosed with very severe COPD/emphysema but did not require oxygen. Since then I have become very active in my recovery process. I completed a wonderful rehab program and have just been accepted into the Spiration Value Trial (more steps to complete before I actually am OK'd for the valves). Some days are diamonds and some are stones. I have 40 years of damage. I want my life back and will do whatever is necessary to regain as much as I can. Daily Strength has been a Special Blessing.

Hi Shirley, Haven't heard from you in a while, so thanks for your comments on my journal. I doubt if it's bursitis. But I'll keep that in mind. We all think it's related to my c-spine fusion and spinal arthritis. What's new with you these days? Did you ever hear from the Railroad about disability? I hope this is a nice Fall for you. Take it easy! Love & hugs, Sue
Shirley sending you some of this rare stuff that we all need right now.
Hope you had a nice weekend!
I was busy online again , it was just nice and quiet here which is very welcoming right now.

Hi Shirley thank you for your lovely words.
I'm doing much better now thank you, still on the pain killers but never the less more mobile and getting these legs stronger again. They seem to be the last thing to work properly can be anything up to a year.
Im tread-milling it at home and have just been given another two weeks respite when I was up in London last Monday. Just a few minor things that need sorting but in good time. Can't wait until they allow me to drive once more.
its all good!
How are things with you?

I quit smoking 9/29/07 when I couldn't walk to the car anymore. I had not seen a doctor, they may want a chest Xray and I spent 30 years avoiding that. I just knew I would bounce right back when I quit smoking. It didn't happen. I started walking and it got way way worse. I knew I was in trouble. Finally made it to the doctor and confessed all the end of January. I was put on inhalers. Just started Spiriva, Albuteral and found this site. I want to thank you all, you're giving me hope.
I Have Been A Member of the COPD/Emphysema Group for About a Year. I Gain A Great Deal of Support From DS. Lately, we've had a huge loss of membership in our group. I believe the harrazement and abuse we receive by one group member is why. I was not aware of a community board or that community leaders were being recruited until a couple of days ago. I'm on DS daily. I feel that our group needs a voice that will uphold the high integrity that I have come to cherish within our grp membership.
