This is the floral emblem for New South Wales. That is the state that Sydney is in. We have 7 states in AUS and I will post the others later and of course the national one as well. Something different to look at.
Wow, beautiful. Looks like one of those plants that would er, eat you, if you got too close. LOL I dunno why, I tend to associate things in Australia with being dangerous. Venomous snakes and spiders, sharks and gators, etc. Too much Animal Planet and Dsc Channel I guess. O.O
Actually Shell I think you are right. It does look like it would eat you. Great observation. We have some beautiful and unusual fauna and flora but also some very dangerous and venomous deadly animals. There are the crocs (not alligators...they are in Florida), the good 'ol sharks, if they don't get ya you have the spiders, our lovely red back spider and the funnel web....both venomous and deadly if not treated with antivenin pronto. Ok so we have some venomous snakes, who hasn't? oops the infamous box jellyfish, silent, transparent and lethal...in tropical waters of course only in summer up north. They sneak up on you, then sting and leave their tentacles behind on your skin, paralysis and death. If you only got stung by one tentacle then you may survive it with immediate medical attention, but you will have a permanent whopping red scar where the tentacle stuck to your skin. I will find photos of these guys for you. My mom found a red back spider in one of Josh's outdoor car buggy thingies. I was not happy. Normally we don't get them. Scary actually. You have to able to identify what bit you cause treatment for bites vary substantially, and a wrong treatment can severaly worsen the condition you have. Oh enough of all of this. Will post an Australian Flora and Fauna 101. Huggies to you.
