Close Breakups & Divorce
My wife and I have been separated since February 1, 2008, with the final divorce hearing set for April 28, 2009. We are trying to be friends, we have two adorable little children, and are trying to sort through all of this as peacefully as possible, since we're bound together indefinitely. Kind of a bummer, but I'm starting to come to terms and move on.
Treatments
- Forgiveness Working / Worked
- I try and be objective and respect my ex and some of her decisions. We are both to blame for the demise of our relationship. She just went down a path after we split that I couldn't fathom or understand. I do forgive her, and I forgive myself for my shortcomings and mistakes.
- Music Working / Worked
- I love music so, so much. At first, every song I listened to seemed to be written about love lost and heartbreak. Now, as spring is here and I feel good, the tunes are more uplifting and fun!
- Pets Somewhat Helpful
- I love my two cats. I'm glad I got to keep them. Sometimes they irritate me, because they want attention ALL THE TIME since the ex left, but I wouldn't trade them for anything.
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- Friends and family are the foundation of a healthy life. At first, I was hesitant to go to them for help and guidance. I thought I could cope on my own. Now I realize how important they are.

- DS has been a GODSEND! I have grown so much here in the 14 months since I joined. I've met some wonderful people and made some great friends...
- Talking Working / Worked
- Getting a lot of my frustration, anger, sadness, hurt, and confusion of it all off my chest has been very cathartic and healthy.
- Time Working / Worked
- Time is definitely a healer. I never thought I would see the day that I felt good, smiled from ear to ear, and enjoyed living again.
