Thank you for being my friends, it is nice to know someone is listening. I don't have much to report, other than I have been off for awhile because of depression. I was really looking forward to being treated by a new Dr., who specializes in Pain Management. After three ESI injections that did'nt work I gave up. I am still on Lyrica and Cymbalta, they do help some, but not enough. My pain is underneath my rib cage, from side to side, burning, squeezing, pinching. The skin on my back is so sensitive, there are places where the nerve endings are close to the surface, I cannot dress properly. I think shingles shoul be rated as one of the worst things that can happen to any body.
Through it all I try to keep going, so I can still have some "life".
Well, on august 12 I went in for a 'pain shot'. This was done by a DR. who specializes in 'pain control'. The first two days were like nothing happened. On the third and fourth days I felt a small improvement which has continued as long as I continue with the Lyrica and Neurontin, although he has advised me to start cutting down on Neurontin until I am off completely, which I am doing. Just taking the100mgs. of Lyrica three times a day and cymbalta, 30mgs twice a day. I will be getting another shot next month.
I still have a lot of pain but I find I can function longer than before, cold packs help too.
Will let you know what happens after the next shot. I have now had this PHN 24/7 for 21 months.

Well here it is the middle of May and I am still in this awfull pain. It is now eighteen months. I am taking Lyrica, 100 mgs, neurontin 300mgs, and ibprofen three times a day. I also take cymbalta,100mgs, at bedtime. I have tried to discontinue all but cannot do it. I have this severe binding, squeezing, pinching pain down my back and underneath my breasts which leaves me breathless. I am 81 years old and still working. This condition is destroying what time I have left, I cannot enjoy anything with this constant pain. I might try one more thing, shots that are supposed to block the pain, done by a Dr. who practises pain management. The only thing that helps for a while is a hot shower and a roll-on called Stopain with Glucosamine, msm, and Boswella. My skin is still very sensitive, I have not been able to wear a bra in all this time, and cannot lean back in a chair without a soft pillow behind me. Nobody can understand this pain unless they have had it. I cannot walk straight anymore as the pain makes me lean forward. The lyrica helps some, but nothing takes the pain away.

How are you? Did the pain shot work? And what kind of shot was it?
