I have just had my second "attack" and am doing somewhat better after 6 days of cipro and flagyl. This has all occured within 6 weeks. I am hopeful and will be so careful of my diet if this settles down. I know that when you take Cipro you should not have any milk products for 6 hrs before and 2 hrs after.. Does anyone know if Soy milk would fall into that category? Or, perhaps I can take that. I am feeling weak as my diet is so light on nourishment as I am trying to keep everything soft and refined or liquid.

Soy milk is probably OK. What you want to avoid is high concentrations of calcium, so if you have soy milk ON something or with the rest of a meal, you're fine. If it's calcium-enriched, you don't want to drink it by itself within the time window.
This drove me crazy when I was on Cipro, since I wanted to eat as much yogurt as possible to counteract all the antibiotic side effects, like yeast infections and diarrhea. By the time I was done taking antibiotics, I had thrush, the runs, and a yeast infection that I'm still battling even after taking Diflucan for a week.
Buy some Ensure or Boost shakes or something like that. They're generally lactose-free, and although they have calcium, it's balanced with everything else, so the prohibition doesn't apply. They will really help you keep your strength up while you're on a liquid/soft diet.
