About Me
I have tumid lupus and I only know of 2 other people with this type. I would be interested in hearing from other people with this. My friend (one of the two with this) told me about this site. It is such a strange ailment and like discoid and systemic lupus has many different aspects to the disease.

Interests
I love to read, watch HGTV. I have 2 sweet dogs that are alot of company. I was the caregiver for my Mother until she passed away in March 2007. I have applied for disability but know it takes a while in the meantime I will be eligible for SS in October. I used to love the beach but haven't been going because of the sun. I do love to travel and am currently single but still keep my eyes open for a soulmate/best friend and a kind man. God Bless Everyone.

Good morning sweet lady. I am so sorry I haven't been in contact lately. I am ashamed of myself. seems like I stay in a whirl wind lately. At what age do you get to slow down? I just had my 70TH birthday last Thursday. Seems like at that age you would have a little time, but I can't always find that. Jeff still can't find a job so about six weeks ago a friend of his told him he was selling some things on e-bay for some extra money, so Jeff decided to try it. He started out with a few shirts that he couldn't wear anymore and they started selling so I have been cleaning out my closet and the drawers and we have got a full blown business going. He has sold over $1000.00 in those six weeks time. We may not have anything left in our house (lol), but he is doing well with his sales. When I get home from work he has been using my computer to list things so I can help him with sizes and descriptions. That has taken my time away from D/S.
I have to go get Karley this Friday. I hope one day soon we can meet for lunch. I am so sorry I haven't kept up. I will try to do better.
How are things going with you? Have a wonderful rest of the week and even though I am behind in my correspondence I think of you all the time.

Thank you, Virginia for chiming in on the supplement issue too. Your post was much better then mine! It gets tiring going over the same stuff over and over again. I dont understand why these people dont join an alternative med/treatment group instead of giving out false and harmful info to people who already have enough to worry about....URGH. Hope all is well with you and sending you big hugs back.

I was diagnosed with tumid lupus in November 2004. That was after 3 years of symptoms.Tumid lupus is confined to the skin but fatigue is also a factor. I have been on plaquenil and ranitidine (otc zantac). I also take atarax for the terrible itching for the skin rash. The rash is mainly on my arms but can pop up anywhere. I changed to the name brand of plaquenil in October and have been pretty much rash free since then. I was on the generic but still continued to have some breakouts.

- Works for me...the name brand not generic.

My feet and hands are usually freezing. I don't have much feeling in my feet at times. My hands go numb and sting usually at night while I'm sleeping. My dr. said that's probably what I have since I have lupus.

Open Hives
I have a rare form of lupus called tumid. It is confined to the skin and goes deeper than discoid. I breakout mainly on my arms. I also get hives with the breakouts. I just found this website by "mistake" but glad I did. I am going to mention autoimmune hives at my next dr. visit. Blessings to all.
Open Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Have had IBS with diarrhea for a long time. I take bentyl, pamelor and a probiotic and immodium as needed. I also have a rare form of lupus called tumid that is confined to the skin.
Treatments

- Seems to work most of the time. Don't know what it would be like not to take it.
- Imodium Working / Worked
- Helps better than prescription lomotil. Only take as needed.
- Probiotics Working / Worked
- Just started taking digestive advantage and it helps.
- Pamelor Working / Worked
- Helps with the cramps and to relax my stomach muscles.
Open Shingles
I've had shingles 3 times in the last 20 years. I am just get over a case on my bottom. I didn't know you could get shingles "below the waist" but my dr. said you could. I am taking Valtrex 3 times a day. This case has not been as bad as the last one in 2004. It was on my shoulder and arm and was very painful. Has anyone ever had shingles on their backside? Just wondering.

- Valtrex Too Soon to Tell
- Am still taking it. My dr. said if the shingles did not clear up I may have to take Valtrex all the time. I certainly hope not as I already take enough.
