About Me
I am a 54 year old married woman who is retired after being a stay at home Mom for twenty-something years! I have three grown children and am waiting to become a grandmother and get into that wonderful phase of my life! I am a born again Christian and love God and His Word. I was diagnosed with clinical depression about 6 years ago but believe I had it for many years before that-probably triggered by the death of my Mom from cancer when I was 18. Doing well now on meds but I have my moments!

Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionI have suffered with depression and nervousness for many years and the symptoms have changed over the years. I used to be real irritable but now its more the anxiety aspect of depression. I am on cipralex and it is the best med. I've ever been on. But it constipates and I have serious problems with that so I cant take the dosage I should take. But I find the meds help as does my relationship with God. Would love to make new friends and help others with my experiences!
Treatments
- Lexapro Working / Worked
- Working well but have sexual side effects and it is very constipating. But, its the best I have been on so I will stick with it!
- Meditation Working / Worked
- My daily time of Bible reading and prayer as well as continuous fellowship with God and doing a lot of praising Him and enjoying His creation is what keeps me going! I have accepted that God has allowed this to come into my life and that He is with me in this situation.
- Paxil Working / Worked
- Was on, didnt work
- Prozac Working / Worked
- Was on-didnt work
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- To some degree. I am a talker so, when I was first diagnosed, counseling was beneficial
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- It helps but only to some degree cuz no one can understand or fully accept this disease if they havent been there
- Trazodone Working / Worked
- It helps me sleep at night
- Wellbutrin Working / Worked
- Another one I was on that did not work-it helped somewhat but the side effects were too harsh
Close Military Families
My son joined the Canadian military a year ago and is just finishing his training as Sig Op. He got married at Christmas time and they will be moving to their first posting in a little less than a month. I fully accept his choice of career and just would love support cuz this is rather new to me!
Open Hemorrhoids
I have had this problem since I was a child and nearly bled to death 15 years ago from bleeding hemorrhoids. Have had 5 or 6 surgeries. Suffer from chronic constipation and no doctor wants to get to the cause.
Treatments
- Hemorrhoidectomy Working / Worked
- Had two or three surgeries but bleeding continued. Suddenly ceased and havent had trouble for several years biw
- Preparation H Working / Worked
- Comforts sometimes to a certain degree
- Rubber Band Ligation Working / Worked
- Had a couple of these, too!! Bled shortly after! Now I just suffer from discomfort
Open Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
I dont have Crohn's or Colitis-or any bowel disease, but my large bowel is pretty well non functioning and has never worked well. As a result I am waiting for a colectomy which will be permanent. I know many of you will be able to encourage me and answer questions. I am not dreading the surgery cuz I just cant live this way anymore. But I do have some aprehension. I am doing a lot of research and my attitude is great. I know I am in God's hands
