MY DAUGHTER POEM
in the cluttered chaos
of a busy city
kissed by God
i conceived
all by myself
unlike
the Virgin Mary
a little poem
named maia
girl-child maia
momma's baby madonna
blue eyed girl
with untamed hair
untempered spirit
in her bones
inside her eyes
willful child
that a mother
is afraid for
but proud of
i nursed her
greedy guppy mouth
she
starving to get going
on this road
called life
seduced by both women
and men
i live with the knowledge
she has too many passions
for this world
and yet
i
pushed her out
of my body
anyway
