About Me
My first flair started back in 10/06 and it took about 8 to 10 months of on&off Cipro and Flagyl, a 40 pound drop in weight and then 4 months of pancreatic enzymes to get to a point where living was a desirable option. And at least now the pain is best controlled by a day or 2 of all fluids and staying away for the food that makes the ‘gurgling’ start. And contrary to all the comments of ‘eat your fiber’ when I take too much fiber - things don’t move and that gets VERY painful. Soft and frequent has its own issues but at least it’s not painful. Any one else have that side effect from taking fiber? I do wonder what effect surgery has on diverticulitis. I had IBS for years and years - never constipation [my research seems to link constipation as a cause of diverticulitis] and then I have a Hysterectomy in Sept and by October I was so sick with the first of many months of flairs. So you have to wonder if removing internal parts has some effect in either causing or maybe unmasking an existing problem we didn’t know we had.

Close Diverticulitis
Diaganosis in Nov 2006, about 2 months after a Hysterectomy. Lost @40 lbs - hard to eat when so sick. went Abroad last June, good deal as you can't 'go' so good over there and for someone wh can 'go' 20-30 times a day - not 'goinmg' was great. Do go abroad for releif.
Treatments
- Levaquin Working / Worked
- Have tried Cipro and Leavaquin. Lev. does not work as fast but makes me less sick. Very hard to control. Beef seems to make worse :-(
