Close Amnesia
I'm 41 and I've had amnesia since I was 11. That's all I really want to say right now...except some days I can't handle it despite having the most supportive friends on the planet.
Close Depression
I'm 41 and I've had depression since I was 14. Sorry but that's it for now.
Treatments
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Not Working
- It's one thing knowing what attitude you NEED to take, quite another being calm enough to do it.
- Psychotherapy Too Soon to Tell
- Still going through the assessment stage for psychological therapy.
- Writing Working / Worked
- I find writing helps but not by specifically writing about problems in my life. I write "lyrical poems" and short stories but find the distraction helps keep my stress levels down and it's an effective temporary "escape" for me
- Zoloft Not Working
- Stopped taking it as it only helped by turning me into a zombie. Although that may have been because my doc had me on heavy duty sleepers at the time too!
Open Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
I'm 41 and I've had PTSD since I was a teenager. Sorry but that's it for now.
Treatments
- Art Working / Worked
- I find writing works for me. Poems, short stories etc but not about my problems as that would defeat the purpose for me. I.e. The whole point for me is it's a creative and harmless "escape" from all my problems.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Not Working
- I just didn't find it helpful. Can't specifically remember why except it doesn't work when I'm stressed.
- Music Working / Worked
- I find music that I associative with positive pre-school memories very calming. Couldn't say why though, maybe I'm just weird!
- Psychotherapy Too Soon to Tell
- Still at the assessment for suitability stage.
- Zoloft Not Working
- It didn't do anything that I was aware of.
Open Phobia
I'm 41 and have problems with agoraphobia since April 2001. Sorry but that's it for now.
Treatments
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- It works very well but makes me feel pathetic that I cant get my rear in gear myself!
Open Multiple Personalities
I'm not really sure what to say here as I'm quite shy. I've had D.I.D. since I was 11 y.o. and that's really it for now, sorry
