~Footprints in the Sand~
A white flowing dress
All covered in beads
A pitch, black tux
With a neat white tie
A beautiful beach
A man and his wife
Soft white sand
Water lapping playfully
They walk hand in hand
Step by step along the beach
Wearing no shoes
Leaving footprints, waves efface
His jet, black hair
Her bright blue eyes
The time moves slowly As they walk
Not a care in the world
Unsure of the future
Not important right now
Right now it’s only them
Walking, smiling, talking
Lying down in the sand
The sun is setting
Stars soon shine
She falls asleep
As does his right arm
He doesn’t mind
Soon he too drifts to dreams
The sunrises
Seagulls wake the sleeping
All creatures arise
except for her
Like the night she passed away
He carries her to the house
Calls family and friends
And so more learn
The shortness of life
The harshness of reality
Now only memories remain
Of Footprints in the Sand
