Update....Check in!~ Mood
Monday, July 14, 2008 | A General Update story

Hi to all. Just wanted to check in and let everyone know that I am doing well. Still have my flares and "my body hates me" days but...Im learning to cope. The family is doing well. My Devon is healing beautifuly. Collar bone almost normal and scar above his eye will be ok. We keep telling him that chicks dig scars Wink

My oldest son is a Senior this year.. yipeeeee.. this will be the year I go broke LOL. Senior pictures will be done today. I can feel the strain already. Band rehearsals have began as well....all 40 of my kids there! It gets tougher every year to keep up. With my oldest graduating this year...I won't know what to do with myself without my band kids.

My dad will be going to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville this week to get run thru the mill. He will be put on the transplant list for a new pancreas and a kidney. He's been a diabetic for years and also on dialysis for 5 months. His only option now is taking a new or artificail pancreas and find a kidney for him. I figured with his health history and age...he'd be the last resort for a transplant. He's 60 and had 5 bypasses done...also had an artifical valve put in about....5 years ago.

I told my mom that I would be glad to be tested to see if I could possibly donate but...my family worries that it would be really tuff for me to recover. With fibro it would be a challenge Im sure. Whatever it takes for my dad then Im all for it. I will be surfing the net to figure out what all goes into such an ordeal. If any of you can give advice or info PLEASE by all means...email or I.M. me.

tamlyno@yahoo.com is my email and Im usually always online for messaging on yahoo. Especially during the day. Whatever advice given will be greatly appreciated. My family and I want to get all the info on transplants and such as we can get. KNOW what we're getting in to. I know when my parents go to the hospital they will forget to ask some questions... I can only hope that Vanderbilt will explain things clearly for them.

Keep us in your thoughts and prayers. This has been a tuff road for us and we're all scared to death. My dad is weighing possibilities of dialysis every night....against antirejection drugs for life.....He just wants to be "normal" and live somewhat of a life. he's tired of the machines already. We are strong and we go thru life together as a family. We pride ourselves on our strong family connections. We're just trying to learn all we can before we do anything. I soooo love the internet! Let me know what ya think...let me know if you have been thru such things. Any and all info is greatly appreciated.

Tam

My Son in an accident! Mood
Wednesday, June 4, 2008 | A Positive story
FOR all those that helped, sent prayers, came by and called....we know how much we're loved! For those that dont know.. Devon was in a car accident Monday afternoon. He and 4 others were on their way home from playing basketball when they crashed. The people that responded and helped save him and his friends are truly GOD's hands. The 3 teens in the car walked away with a few cuts and scrapes. Devon and the other 12 yr old in the car had head injuries and broken collar bones. NONE of them had on a seat belt. They felt that since they were less than 1/2 mile from the house... it wasn't needed. Devon has 12 stictches above his eye. The other 12 yr old has a huge goose egg on his head where his head hit Devons. Their summer is pretty much VOID at this point due to broken collar bones. The people that rushed out to help Devon and the others are my hero's. Along with all the police, troopers, and paramedics that came. We've had a rush of love and concern for them and its truly appreciated. I will never be able to express how greatful I feel to all involved. They boys were VERY lucky. I could have lost my baby that night due to a simple task of buckelling a seat belt. ITS INSANE to know how a second or 2 can change everything. the trooper told us that they were very lucky not to have been ejected from the car. IF the car had flipped one more time they probably would have been. Someone in heaven was watching over them that day. We will NOT be tempting fate again thats for certain. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.... DO NOT let another parent go thru the heart ache and fright that we experienced. BUCKLE YOUR SEAT BELT no matter what. We were lucky and I know many out there aren't. Thanks and GOD bless to those that came to our rescue. Those that were there in thought and prayer. We'll never forget how much we are loved. Life can change in a split second. We are never promised another day or even another minute. MAKE SURE your loved one's are always buckeled in when they get in a car. Even if its a 1/2 mile from home....ANYTHING can happen as prooved with us. THANKS AGAIN to all.. WE will never forget your help.
Much love from all of us!!!!!!!
