My little Brian and I put AJ on the bus this morning and set off for our 2 mile jog/walk. So happy the sunshine is back. I wanted to go early because I have a lot to do when the kids get home today. My daughter is going on a school trip all the way to Boston tomorrow so I have to help pack her up. She will be pissed if I do it without her because like she says, "I'M NOT A BABY MOM!!! I CAN PACK A BAG ALONE!!!"
I know she's right. It's just one night but I am so nervous anyway. Last year the overnight trip was to Virginia and I kept her home. I really think middle school is young for these type of trips. Now I'm regretting a little being the only parent around here that hasn't caved and gotten my kid a cell phone because I won't be able to reach her. Too overprotective? Who knows.
Enough about that all will go well I'm sure.

Good luck! I am scared of having a middle schooler one day! It's just what you are saying- what's age appropriate and what's not? It's not like a 4 year old where if they want a toy you look on the side to see if it says "3 and up" or whatever. It's tough when they get older. No one writes developmental books of middle schoolers (that I know of anyway). I am sending a big hug your way. The most important thing is to listen to the mommy instinct. Big hugs!

Oh wow I am not looking forward to that time. My daughter is a daddy's girl and refuses to let me do much for her. When she's a pre-teen I think I'll lock myself in my room til graduation. LOL Good luck getting through your time without her home. We're here if you need us.

My daughter is 12 and SO sensitive about NOT being treated lkike a baby. We had to have a talk and told her to chill on that. (I'M sure that did a LOT of good!) LOL!! I would be nervous about that kind of trip too, but at some point we have to let them venture out, and experience life! I know my daughter will not always make great choices, I only hope when my she screws up it won't be too costly and we WILL be there for her to help her learn from it. I am sure your daughter has a good head on her shoulders and that you have raised her right. I bet it is a great trip, then you will have that knotch on your belt for Parenthood experiences you lived through. I will need your support when my turn comes around!

YEAH, IT'S NOT FAIR, MEN! GREAT JOB ON NOT BEING A COUCH POTATO, I WAS JUST THINKING THE SAME THING, A YEAR AGO I ALWAYS HAD CLOTHES PILED, SINK FULL, ETC. AND NOW MY HOUSE IS USUALLY PRETTY TIDY AND I NEVER STOP SINCE HAVING ALL THIS ENERGY, I DO WATCH LESS TV OR NONE (ONLY WHEN HUBBY IS HOME) AND I SPEND MORE TIME ON MYSELF. WHOO HOOOO! KIDS.... TOO FUNNY! GREAT JOB AJ! MUST BE NICE TO HAVE HIM BY YOUR SIDE, WHAT A GREAT SON. I KNOW INSIDE THEY KNOW YOUR DOING YOUR BEST AND TRYING REALLY HARD AND YOU LOVE THEM MORE THAN ANYTHING AND ALWAYS WANT TO BE THERE FOR THEM NO MATTER WHAT. MY SON AT 6 TELLS ME HE'S NOT A BABY ANYMORE BUT WHO STILL DRESSES HIM IN THE MORNING HALF ASLEEP :0 YEAH, I STILL DO. HOPE YOUR DAUGHTER HAS A GREAT TRIP, GUESS WE HAVE TO LET THEM KNOW WE TRUST THEM AND DO LITTLE THINGS LIKE THAT BUT DON'T GIVE THEM TOO MUCH WHERE THEY DON'T APPRECIATE IT RIGHT? YEAH, KIDS JIMMY'S AGE HAS A CELL PHONE, NO WAY.... WHEN I DON'T HAVE TO DRIVE HIM OR PICK HIM UP ANYMORE I WOULD THINK ABOUT IT, MAYBE 12-13 YRS OLD??? I'M ALSO TOO OVERPROTECTIVE, SO I AGREE. GLAD YOUR DOING GREAT, HAVING A GREAT DAY AND SMILING! KATHY

Just from reading your journals and the other ordel you had making a decision with your husband I know you think before acting and are level headed. You made the right decision about the cell phone. Or maybe just let her take yours over-night. Nene
